from that list it's quite obvious that big's come at a premium. and that alot of big's (Center's in particular) don't really produce enough for what they are paid. I guess that's the cost of going traditional lineup?

There's no way Damp is a bigger millstone than Raef. Damp is far more useful.

The problem with this is that if all those bigs get similar money than they arent overpaid. I like simmons but he obviously failed economics.

There's also a problem with that list. Damp's 7th year isn't guaranteed.

Webber isnt CLOSE to being the worst because he is one year from being an asset as an expiring contract plus he can still contribute actual help to an nba team.

heh, the Dampier contract is only slightly better than the Jerome James contract. Fitting since Dampier is only a slightly better player.

Damps contract that is left is about 4 years and 38 mil. The 5th year isnt guaranteed. That isnt that bad. Hell its not that much more than greg freakin buckner just got. Buckner is on this list if he got the 5 year mle.

Damp is lots better than Jerome James. He has a bad contract, but not THAT bad.

Jerome is obviously the worst contract people... hes a third string center quality player while the others will at least play some minutes for you and can even contribute. JJ is like your backups backup and even then I might consider going small and putting a forward at center because he sucks so bad.

Right. He hardly played at all last year. They are basically paying him to sit on the bench. If he was starting it might be a different story, but to pay a guy this much for NO production is horrible. He has to be at least one of the top 3 worst contracts.

Edit: I just looked it up, and he averaged 3.1 points, 2.1 boards, and 0.5 blocks in 44 games last year.

That in contrast to the numbers all those other ridiculous contracts put up on a nightly basis is enough to convict Jerome as the mots overpaid basketball player ever. Maybe even in all of sports, who knows.

when I see this list (especially the top 5), I can understand why owners are so reluctant to give those guys long-term contracts. Big names of yesteryear whose performance declines while their yearly income sky-rockets...

When Kenyon Martin was a free agent, and word was going around that the nuggets were offering too much, all these writers were saying "they should pay him that money..they can use a player like that".. Now these same writers have him listed as the most overpaid playre in the league.

Funny how hypocrisy works these days.

Everyone at the time knew that he was nowhere near a max player. He shouldn't be making more than 8-9 mill per year, considering how spotty his jumpshot is.

Just want to point out that Walker's contract is actually for 4 years(guaranteed) with the last two being Team Options. So technically, his deal is for around 23 mill for 4 years.

Jerome James is terrible, yet he's being paid like 6 million a year, crazy.
