Default GDT game 69 - Mavs (29-39) at Nets (13-55) 11:00AM FSSW

pre-gameday thread, because the game is so early tomorrow. Yes, you read that right, 11:00am. 9:00am AZ time. Oof.

Another bad team, another loss?

Injuries

Stupid early tipoff... Easy loss.

This is interesting pre game to talk about while March Madness is going on.. If Arizona doesn't make it to elite 8. You could bet Markkanen will be out of being a top 10 pick status. Which looks like he's top 20. Looks good for the Mavs.

I don't think Arizona winning or losing has any impact on Markkanen's stock unless his poor play contributes to a loss.

Depends on the position I think. SF spot for sure their stock doesn't get out of top 10 status. For instance Miles Bridges and Justin Jackson. Plus TJ Leaf. They are climbing up there. Plus if guards like Grayson Allen and Monk get to their team to the final 4 it makes this years draft real good for any team that has top 20 pick.

The problem with Markannen is his athleticism and quickness. That can be a death knell in today's NBA. He'll likely be playing more center than pf because of it.

Not sure how this topic got to the GTD, but I'm certainly not pinning the Mavs draft hopes on him.

Why not add this to the pre pre game day thread made?... Markannen can only play PF. No way he could play center from what I'm watching.

I honestly have no idea what to expect from this team anymore. If I start embracing the tank we will surely go on a winning streak. If I start talking playoffs*mora* then we will lose by 42, for example, to a team missing 2 franchise caliber talent's.

There is no way in hell that the Otter Nests beat the Mavs by 40 (maybe by 20, but never by 40!). Although the Mavs do not play well on early games, today they win big, thanks to another Dirk double-double....

Mavs - 108
Otter Nests - 98

Noel really needs to learn how to screen.... He leaves way too early on nearly every screen.

Is it too much to ask why the Mavs never go for an offensive board?

I disagree. I think they're playing like an 8th seed. But maybe not enough games to make it. We'll see.

Had Lin not gotten injured, then this very easily could have been a loss. It was ridiculously close as it was.

23 points and 9 rebounds... After 19 seasons, teams still haven't figured out how to stop Dirk!

Meanwhile in March madness. It's getting more lit than I expected which should change the mock draft orders around. Not too sure Fultz is a number 1 pick at this point.

And much, much taller... Like, it should rival Reunion Tower as the most recognizable part of the Dallas skyline.

I think it'd be be really cool if it was Dirk's exact dimensions. It would give the average fan an idea of how unique and difficult to master Dirk's game is (was).

Maybe 10:1. That statue needs to be at least 70' tall. Maybe a smaller one next to it with Dirk in a business suit to commemorate his philanthropy too, but the lean-back jumper needs to be 70' or more

Why not 100:1 instead? Make it roughly the same size as Fountain Place... The sixth all-time scorer could have the 6th-tallest structure in Dallas.

Make it so, Mark Cuban's bank account!

Nice.

Although if it ended up being something of a more realistic size, I'd love to see Dirk as Atlas, holding the entire Mavs franchise on his shoulders... Like, literally -- with every player, coach, and significant staff member that was here during his career etched into stone......... Also, LeBron/Wade/Bosh under his foot.

But his patented fadeaway is good too.

I definitely want there to be the biggest possible statue. But Tap is onto something... I would sure love for there to be some kind of fun display inside the arena for future kids who didn't get to see him play. One where it's his exact dimensions and has him in the air and the ball already released and on it's arc. Just to give kids an idea of how it's unblockable. I can already see the kids lining up to try and jump next to the display and block it. Basically a display that show's this sports science video(this is not a new video) live in the AAC.

In terms of size we should look at Braavos

Not sure how this topic got to the GTD, but I'm certainly not pinning the Mavs draft hopes on him.
Same reason Im not THAT high on him. Im not losing any sleep if the Mavs dont draft him. I do like his jumper though
