He said that NVE wasnt going to be traded due to the fact that Nash needs less minutes to be healthy for the playoffs. He also said he was looking for a big man. HE also said that the mavs really liked the foreign player they drafted and he was projected to go in the top 20. HE also said he was working on some trades. He also stated that the mavs only had a few players that were tradable.

Does he realize he's contradicting himself? We can't keep NVE and expect to trade with a team. We can't expect to just sign a big man w/o giving up someone. NVE is our only commdity that we can get rid of. So who is he going to trade if he wants to keep NVE here to give Nash rest? Bradley? Evan? Griffin? Buck? Najera? Newman? All those players are "fillers
" in trades. Not stand alone commodities.
I chalk it down as a "spray crap everywhere so no one has a clue where ya actually did crap" philosophy.

Exactly. Cubes is full of crap if he thinks anyone believes NVE is not on the trading block.

Fact is, i'm starting to think he isn't shopping NVE as much as we think. We all know he wouldn't just come out and say it, but he also wouldn't be making a point to say he is not every single interview. I'm not saying he isn't shopping him but I not sure if he would do a trade unless its in the Mavs favor, and KT/Ward isn't really in the Mavs favor. He is also putting himself in a position where if he does trade NVE he will look like a a-hole to everyone because he lied to him the whole off-season.

I tend to agree with you Lvubun1. I don't think that the Mavs are as eager to deal NVE as we might think. I don't think Cuban cares about appearing to be an asshole or about hurting NVE's feelings, though. If that were the case, he probably wouldn't have been able to pull off the Hardaway/Howard deal.
I also tend to agree with you, Doc. Dallas may not be making firesale-type offers with NVE involved, but he is definitely on the trading block and available for the right price, and to suggest otherwise is just disingenuous.
Bayliss, perhaps Cuban thinks he can add the main player he wants via a FA signing without having to deal NVE. Either that, or he's full of crap and knows that NVE must go to get another decent big guy on the roster before the season starts.

The BEST thing about having NVE on the Mavs is that HE is the subject of almost every trade rumor. Finley will have a quiet summer and not have to listen to the trade rumors every day.

The difference between the Hardaway-Howard trade is that it came out of nowhere, people are expecting him to deal NVE, and he is just straight up saying he will not do it. Its not like he is saying "We are exploring our options" or "Its a slight chance" or some other GM-speak but he is saying plain and simple "He isn't being traded"

people had been speculating that howard would be moved....and cuban and nellie denied it.

will he be moved? I don't know.
Is it likely that Cuban could be throwing up another smoke screen? Sure, why would the mavs change what has already been successful for them.
Or, could it be that the trades that might have been in the works were shot down by other clubs...sure, it's possible

Why is anyone surprised at all by the denial? EVERY freaking team in every sport does this.

Yea I think we have about a 60percent chance of keeping NVE. When Cuban says that he doesent intend on trading NVE to me thats just like saying he plans on trading him. But doesent Cuban and Nellie believe in the outscore ur other team? It makes sense to keep NVE and I guess he plans on trying ot sign Kandi which I dont see happening. Maybe Lafrentz is on the trade block? And yea this is good news if NVE does stay because that p[uts Finley in a less awkward position because I would hate to see him play lik ehe did when he was in the trade block last season or so they say.

I would be extremely surprised if this was the case.

No way LaFrentz is on the block. Murph nailed it on the NVE trading block deal. No question about it.
