That would really be horrible if we lost Kiki, but luckily Cuban has a way of providing an enjoyable work environment for Mavs' staff, and I don't really see him leaving...

I agree Mavinator, it'd be a tough loss if we lost Kiki. He works very well with our big men and God knows they need work.

Well I'm sure if he decided to go to Denver it would be because he would see a chance in the future of being head coach as where he couldn't see that happening here anytime in the forseeable future.

It would be a major blow to Najara/Harvey/Wang's development if Kiki leaves. I'm hoping he stays. Why would he want to go to Denver as an assistant? Isn't the coach there about to be fired?

I think the only reason he'd leave would be for the shot at being the team's gm. He obviously has no chance at taking on that role here.

Mavs' Vandeweghe interviews with Nuggets

07/03/2001

From Staff and Wire Reports

Mavericks assistant coach Kiki Vandeweghe interviewed Monday with Denver owner Stan Kroenke. The Nuggets have interest in Vandeweghe, one of the best players in franchise history, as a potential general manager, player-personnel director and/or assistant coach.

Vandeweghe would work with former teammate Dan Issel, the Nuggets' coach-president.

"We have a few different things we're talking to him about," Kroenke told the Rocky Mountain News. "Kiki is a very impressive young man."
