The Houston Rockets can suck it!
Edit: Mavs in 6.

If Harden lays a postseason egg like he's done up to this point of his career, the Mavs are going to win this. Unfortunately, I see him having a big series.

The playoffs are just as much about coaching as the players on the court.
Huge edge for the Mavs

Honestly, I don't fear the Rockets. Would rather play them than San Antonio.

I give them more credit than you, probably, but other than POR, they are the team I wanted most.

As middling as the Mavs have seemed, we still finished with 50 wins, have one of the three best coaches in the league, are trending upward, feature tremendous talent 1-5, and have a stout bench. Unlike the 2007-08 2-7 matchup, I feel great about this one.

I will say that James Harden is literally the only player on the Rockets that scares me. Otherwise Dallas is better at every position (except maybe center, but Dwight is far from 100%)... it's just that foul-drawing machine scares the shit out of me.

Thank the Pelicans.
I fancy our chances against the Rockets much more than a Series against the Spurs.
If Rondo can take out Harden and bring Playoff-Rondo out i think we can beat them.
Also Hack-a-Dwight will probably be needed.
I expect a close series min. 6 Games.
Really depending if Parsons is able to play and contribute. If he misses games or is banged up i dont see a big chance.

Hack a Dorsey, hack a Josh, hack a Dwight. Even T Jones shoots 60%, and Pop forced Asik out of the game last night who shoots them at the same clip. When the Rockets last played the Spurs, Mchale was helpless when Pop went to the hack a whoever played center. Josh Smith went 12-26 from the line. Carlisle is going to have a huge weapon to use anytime he wants. Pop did it when his team was ahead by ten points, and it took Harden right out of the game. Pop just decided he would rather watch someone else shoot fts rather than Harden.

I don't think the average Houston fan realizes how much of a coaching advantage we have....
Rondo has played well against Harden the few times they met this season and I expect him to kick it into another gear starting Saturday.
Another thing is that Dirks and Tysons minutes were fairly well managed this year - they should be much fresher going into this series.

Refs will be a big part of the series, if they call every bs for Harden, there is no chance to advance. Rondo will guard him i assume, needs to be big.

And Dirk by the eye test seems to have gotten his shooting stroke back lately. Any numbers backing this up in the last 6 games or so?

Don't forget Tyson Chandler who is averaging 13 points, 13 rebounds on 75% shooting for the month of April.
The only real concern outside of Parsons knee is whether Monta is going to play team ball or Monta ball. I have faith that he'll do the right thing.

Its still a dangerous matchup, also because of Chandler as only rim protector. So its pretty sure that Hardens game plan will be to get Tyson into foul trouble to get him off the court.
Expect him to drive like crazy and pull off his entire acting repertoire...

It'll be tough to watch if Harden gets his bs calls, and Ellis can't buy a call.

How many Freethrows should we expect James Soften to average per game against us in this series?

Rondo was acquired partly for his reputation as a good perimeter defender. We have already seen some quality perimeter defense from him in Dallas. If he can flip a switch and take it up another notch and bother Harden, Houston may not have much chance of winning this series. You take Harden off thos team and they might have missed the playoffs even had they been in the Eastern Conference.
Best off-court stories of any first round series in the NBA.
Let's go Mavs!
