Default The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread

If he would accept a backup role on this team as well as a minimum contract, he would be a great pickup for the team. He could have one last shot at a title. I think he would be the perfect backup to the Diggler. Who is with me!?

I say no.

Nellie would have him playing out of position to create mismatches.

He would be our starting center and back up 2 gaurd.

No. Just for his character, or lack thereof. Just say "no" to Malone!

I thought for sure he was going to return to LA or head to MIA. Why hasn't he made up his mind/signed with a team yet? I wouldn't mind more scoring and rebounding from the backup PF position behind Dirk.

There has to be a reason we're not aware of. Otherwise, he'd surely be on somebody's roster...Heck, the Kings were going to sign the Rangers number 5 starting pitcher...

i'm for it... paying mininmum for a former all star who despite his age is still better than henderson. is way better than paying mid-level for an unreliable oaf.

and besides he brings leadership and smarts.

also think of just how he compliments dampier downlow when nowitzki's taking a break.

DIRNO ... I have yet to see any report that says definitively that he is well. They always skirt the issue or just talk about how he "hasnt decided" etc. Your quote says he is "doing well" but doesnt addrsss his knee issues.

In reading between the lines, I dont think the guy is healthy enough to play a lick.

I haven't either...I was going by a thread on a Lakers message board. Apparently he was on a local tv station and proclaimed himself to be 100% healthy. The poster who started the thread is as reliable as you can expect an internet message board poster to be, so I don't doubt Malone said it. That doesn't necessarily mean it's true though.

He's another cryptic statment from his agent:

"He's physically there, or almost there," Manley told ESPN.com. "He's doing really well. It's just a question of when he wants to make a decision. He has some family plans through the holidays."

Please no to Malone... and stop calling Dirk "the Diggler." Man I hate that.

DIRNO ... I dont doubt the accuracy of those reporters. But, like you, I see that there is a real weasel factor under the surface. Malone says he's well, then his agent says "almost there" and so forth - it really seems like one big stall tactic, with Malone still being far less than healthy but unwilling to admit it. He has flaked on taking a physical for teams that want to perhaps sign him. Someone on another board said that he actually had MICROFRACTURE surgery, and has been trying to keep it unknown while he rehabs. With all the stalling, with dates for his return pushed farther and farther back, that makes a ton of sense - and it would be a huge reason to steer clear of him.

You might have to use a shovel to sign Wilt.

The only way I would want to sign Karl is if it kept San Antonio from singing him.
