Parsons, the smooth operator. Two centers he has now helped take from LA and brought to TX.

I failed to realize that he stole both from L.A. That is awesome! In my mind Howard was a Magic center before going to Houston. I chose to forget that one season in L.A. I was tired of reading all of those stories. Good thing I am no Lakers fan.

Meanwhile in Clipper land it's "Sob City". This is a huge coup for Dallas. I was pretty doubtful he would actually leave LA but damn here it is happening.

Doc + CP only wanted DJ to be a rebounder/dunker/defender. Never ran plays for him. I actually think they were right... but they never won.

Mavs played it smart- appealed to DJ's desire to be a 2-way player. We'll see. Enjoyed watching him blossom from section 101. Good luck DJ.

Brad Turner @BA_Turner
Source: DJ impressed that Dirk Nowitzki come off family vacation for meeting in LA. None of the Clipper players were at meeting.

Yeah, that seems like their doom, but you know Paul wouldn't show up if a gun was held to his head.

Plan A designed, implemented, and executed. Thanks to Parsons for driving this to its completion. It is truly remarkable how all of his panache about playing GM has come to fruition. Give that man a raise!

Paul was the #1 reason why Jordan wanted out of LA.

@ZachLowe_NBA: Parsons is the lead recruiter, but the underlying Mark Cuban-Dan Fegan (agent) relationship is obviously key here.

Going by my memory here I believe we have the following players signed (or will once we can within the next week or so):
Raymond Felton
Devin Harris
Wesley Matthews
Chandler Parsons
Justin Anderson
Dirk Nowitzki
Dwight Powell
DeAndre Jordan
Satnam Singh
If I am correct that leaves us with 6 roster spots open. I know the Mavs like to leave at least 1 spot open for any players that become available throughout the season. Who could the next 4 or 5 signings be? I think the Mavs should make an effort to re-sign J.J. Barea. I also am a fan of what Charlie Villanueva did for us last year. It also would not hurt to have Amar'e return.

I heard that Jefferson resigned for the min. I thought I read that Singh will not be on the roster - he was going to be stashed on the Legends roster for a couple of years

He will be in Frisco but he still counts as part of the 15-man roster unless we just don't sign him.

Singh will not be on the roster. New rule
http://dleague.nba.com/news/nba-dlea...-thames-mcrae/
The Full Draft Rights Rule
“NBA D-League players who are also on an NBA team’s ‘draft list’ may be directly acquired by the affiliate of the NBA team that holds his draft rights. Such players will be able to bypass the usual NBA D-League player selection processes, including the NBA D-League Draft and the in-season waiver wire. The new rule will take effect beginning with the 2014-15 NBA D-League season.
Under the new rule, NBA D-League players who are on an NBA team’s ‘draft list’ will have the opportunity to automatically play for their NBA team’s NBA D-League affiliate both prior to the NBA D-League Draft and at any point during the season. In the case of players who join the NBA D-League mid-season, NBA D-League teams will have 24 hours to claim or relinquish rights to the player whose draft rights are retained by their NBA parent club. An NBA team’s ‘draft list’ consists of players for whom that team holds exclusive NBA contract signing rights.
A player’s status as a draft rights player will supersede any other NBA D-League player rights, except in the case of players drafted into the NBA prior to 2014, in which case returning player rights take precedence over any other player rights for the 2014-15 season only.
Prior to the implementation of the new rule, only certain players cut from an NBA team’s training camp, not those whose draft rights were owned, were eligible to be protected by the parent club’s NBA D-League team.”

Unless the Heat pays him some enormous contract I have a feeling he'll be staying in Dallas. This makes me so happy!

@espn_macmahon: For all of Chandler Parsons' charm, DeAndre Jordan's decision came down to a desire to be a franchise centerpiece.

@espn_macmahon: Mark Cuban on DeAndre Jordan: "We think he is going to be our best player for years to come. A franchise player for rest of his career."

If he keeps playing like he did when Griffin was out, then I have no doubt. Hell, even when Griffin came back, Jordan was still on fire.

Awesome. I was disappointed last year that we lost Vince Carter, but he did an admirable job. And the fact that RJ is again willing to return for the minimum is awesome. I have a feeling that he is learning some investing advice from Mark Cuban that makes his contract actually more than the minimum.

I think the biggest thing about this that maybe hasn't been realized by everyone yet is now we have guys that free agents want to come play with. What free agents next offseason do we now have a realistic shot at signing?

Bingo... That's why we focused on Jordan/Matthews and didn't blink when lesser free agents started dropping off the board.
