@bobbykaralla: Tonight, Dirk Nowitzki will become the sixth player in NBA history to play 50,000 NBA minutes. He will move past Elvin Hayes (exactly 50,000 MP) for fifth-most minutes all-time.
@bobbykaralla: For 16 consecutive seasons from 2001-2016, the Mavericks had a +7.1 net rating with Nowitzki on the floor. During that time he had a cumulative +6,587 plus-minus, second-best in the league behind only Duncan. LeBron was third.

@mavstats: Harrison Barnes is listed as questionable for tonight's game vs LAC (left ankle sprain). Mavs vs Clippers at 9:30 on @FOXSportsSW.

Tonight, Lone-Angel-Otter Deandra will get a taste of what could have been playing with a young, athletic, talented PG, not named CP3, but The JR. In short, The Otter-Angeles-Team from the west will lose big.
Mavs - 109
Otter-Angeles-Team - 81

Love that SAC & CHI are playing each other tonight. Either SAC takes a W & Mavs have a chance to be the worst team in the West again after tonight, or CHI gets a W & we get a little more breathing room between us and one of the teams in the bottom 8. It's a win, win!

@mavstats: Mavs lineups vs Clippers: DSJ, FERRELL, Wes, Powell and Dirk. This is Yogi's 16th start of the season (12.1 ppg, 41.9% 3-pt FGs as a starter).

I know the Mavs have said they want DSJ to earn his minutes, but setting that aside, Harris & Barea are cutting into his opportunities in this game. Every analyst says it. The best way to learn is to play.

Mavs are catching a break here in this game that DeAndre Jordan nor Lou Williams were traded prior to tonight's game; not to mention Danilo Gallinari is back for this one. The way this game is going if those guys weren't playing the Mavs might win this won by 15 pts.

The Clips are absolute garbage. Not sure why they waited so long to trade Griffin, they gave up the season and won't even get a high pick in the draft.

I dunno about that offensive foul call on DSJ, looked incidental.

He looked out of control to me. Watching in live, in real time, I didn't see it, but watching the replay it looked like a foul to me. If a Clippers player did that to a Mav, we'd all be agreeing with the call.

Now that's how you tank.
Also, I didn't realize DSJ had 6 fouls and thought he was out based on play (which would have been completely fair IMO, he played poorly in the 4th).

I bet Kleber remembers not to rush the ball up the floor with a lead in the last minute of the game. Next time I bet he pulls the ball back out & run some clock.
Good learning experiences for those two. Now, if we can only get Motley some on-the-job training.

We have 4 rookies on the active roster, 3 of them played (even Jalen Jones got put in on the last possession)... Maybe Motley just isn't ready yet? It's not like he's had time to build chemistry with the team in practice... But saying Carlisle doesn't play rookies is a straight-up fallacy at this point.

It's widely known that Carlisle and Popovich have a reputation for not liking to play rookies. I was saying Carlisle is taking that approach with Motley, not the other rookies.

It's widely known that Mavs fans thought they were smarter than Rick about Roddy and reality handed them their asses.
I mean, have you seen the rookies we've had over the years? Are any of them still in the league aside from Crowder and Anderson? It's almost like Carlisle knows what he's doing... You can blame Donnie for drafting garbage, but you can't blame Rick for keeping that garbage on the bench.
That said, Motley hasn't been practicing with the team for very long. It takes a bit of time to build chemistry, there's a good chance that none of the players trust him yet.

First, you're contradicting yourself. "Carlisle doesn't play rookies. Carlisle takes that approach with Motley, but not the other rookies." So what you're really trying to say is that Carlisle is fine with rookies, just not Motley ... for whatever reason.
Second, Carlisle and Popovich I believe have the same coaching patterns. They cannot stand low BBIQ players regardless if they are rookie or not, but it just happens to be more prevalent in rookies. For example, we thought getting OJ Mayo was going to be great. He turned out to be one of the lowest BBIQ players in the league. Then we got Monta and I still love the guy, but he did/does consistently make bone-headed plays.
Lastly, RC actually has played rookie/young players that show the determination and effort such as Yogi, Jae Crowder, Justin Anderson, and even going all the way back to Josh Howard. So I just don't buy the whole "RC doesn't play rookies" argument.
