Do you think the Mavs make the playoffs?
Just a simple poll to get the temperature of the average Mavs fan here on the site.

Yes because it's hard to imagine Phoenix keeping their sh!t together down the stretch.

Both Phoenix and Utah have tough schedules, so I don't know if they'd knock us out even if we had a bad stretch of games to finish the season... But I think we go on a bit of a run over the next 9 games while another team or two stumbles, locking us into the 6th seed.

Too much talent and veteran leadership to lay down now. We make it in with a little room to spare.

2 things give me faith, even though I'm very close to picking that they'll miss the playoffs.
1) I just can't imagine Kidd or Dirk letting that happen down the stretch to this team
2) Mavs have favorable tiebreakers

And this.
Like Mavs fans have been saying for years, "In Dirk We Trust."

Nice. I already posted in this thread without bitching about it being a new thread, because, despite what some people might try to have you believe, I don't have a problem with new threads...
It's when some noob decides to post an ' And finally Odom leaves the Mavericks' thread when there's already an ' Odom done as a Mav' thread that I feel the need to say something - mainly because your self-absorption was burying a perfectly good thread full of excellent conversation...
Speaking of which, you took the time to express how butthurt I make you feel, but never bothered to answer the question that this thread was created for in the first place - maybe people keep razzing you because all you do is make redundant threads and talk about yourself?
EDIT: also, I'm not trying to make you look stupid - I could never do a better job of that than you're already doing...

So, how many thread hijacks is this now?
EDIT: It's also a bit ironic that you are hijacking a thread created by one of the handful of long-time posters who actually came to your defense, albeit because he supports anyone, regardless of how idiotic they are, that flames Underdog.

Can they be one or two new threads? The 2nd Lamar Odom thread is already 3 pages long and I can't be bothered to sift through that many posts...

Voted for missing the playoffs.
Voted last year before every playoff series that we get swept. Worked pretty well.

Part of me really wants us to miss the playoffs, give the guys rest and let the team refocus in the offseason-- plus it would increase our odds in the draft with one of the more talented draft classes making themselves available. If we really do make drastic changes (lose Kidd, Terry, Wood), it would be nice to get in on a top 14 pick.
Then again we won the championship last year and this team has way too much fight in it not to at least fight through 4-5 great games in the playoffs. We're less deep, older, more worn down, and lacking some key pieces so I don't think we'd go all that far, but it'd be nice to see. A good championship run might make it more appealing to Deron to come too.
Part of me just wants to get out guys rest without injury and a better chance at securing someone good in the draft particularly if its going to be a brutal first-round matchup. The other part just wants to see what the Dirk and the geriatrics can do when the games really matter. Kidd, Marion, Terry et al REALLY ramped it up in the playoffs, particularly in the WCF and finals. They all have the potential to turn it up to 11 for a brief period despite their age.

I think they will make the 6th seed. They can't catch Memphis and Houston, Denver, Phoenix don't do anything for me.

Mavs finish 6-2 and take the 6th seed.

that would get them to a 50 win equivalent
but then again, after we've locked up the 4 seed, we're probably just gonna rest our starters for the Chicago game, right?

Looking at the schedules of playoff teams, the Lakers have several tough games left against 1/2 seeds (Spurs X 2; OKC) with Memphis and the Clippers having only one apiece (Memphis vs Spurs; Clippers vs OKC). We might see the Lakers drop to the fourth seed before all is said and done. Could be important if the Mavs grab sixth.

I guess the answer is yes, because I got an email today from the Mavs saying that first-round tickets go on sale Saturday at 10am. There will be a lottery if you want to go to the AAC at 8:30am. I'll see you there!

Almost no way we miss the playoffs now. Though I don't want the Lakers in round 1. I'd rather tank a couple games and fall to 7th or 8th.

maybe, maybe not.
whether they do or not they wont be going anywhere being as soft as they are inside.
no center = no success. if mavfan does not see this yet, he never will.

To say "maybe, maybe not" at this point is stupid. It is almost mathematically impossible for us to miss the playoffs now. It would require:
Phoenix winning 4 MORE games than us when they only have 6 games remaining
OR
Utah winning 4 MORE games than us when they only have 5 games remaining
AND
BOTH Denver and Houston winning MORE games than us. Yet they are playing each other tonight AND tomorrow night, so two losses for those two teams will come out of those two games.
Think before you post.

Yes. It is (almost mathetmatically impossible). Even if we lose ALL of our remaining games, which is extraordinarily unlikely, 3 of Rockets, Nuggets, Jazz, and Suns would have to reach 35 wins, which is almost impossible.
It is not a case of "maybe, maybe not".

Maybe is a more informal word than perhaps. It is used when you are talking about an action that has a chance of happening in the future.
"maybe" is used in this context to describe something as having a possibility of occurring, regardless of strength of probability. and possibility justifies the use of this word when utilizing the proper english language.
if im not mistaken, using the word to th 2nd power, such as this, " maybe, just maybe",,,,,,,,,, decreases the odds by an estimated 60%.

4 spots left in the West.
We could of gave a pretty big blow to Utah's chances out but now they're 1/2 game out of 8th.
