i would never have considered myself as part of a minority. On the grand scale, anyone who is not of Chinese or Indian origin should be considered a minority.

But here, they are considered a minority group. Work that out?

Well not exactly. Women are considered "minorities" even though they make up about 50% of the population. So a white woman is still considered a minority. Anyone gay or living a nontraditional lifestyle would be considered a minority. Then you have religion.

But in truth isn't every one on the planet a member of some sort of minority group?

Usually most people use Minority to refer to everyon who isn't white, male, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, and heterosexual.

Chiwas you are absolutely correct about "white" being all colors in the technical definition, but in the Political Correctness definition, I'll still stick with the abscence of color althought that's not totally accurate, it's darn close. Trouble is that people are becoming more and more mixed in their heritage? Take Tiger Woods. When he fills out those forms asking for his race he could ansewer affirmative in several categories. Perhaps it's time to start putting race aside and start viewing people by who they are and not the features that their DNA show's to the world.

The census now allows you to check as many boxes for ethnicity as you want to.

I think for some organizations they still use the 'one-drop' rule. If you have one drop of african american blood in you, then you are black. I've heard that if you're white and your family is from the south then you have a %60-%80 percent chance of being black according to that rule.

For the purpose of public schools, you are what your dad is.

I just watched a hilarious King of the Hill yesterday where Dale decided he was Native American because he has a son that is Native American.

As for me, I'm mostly fish-belly white, and %25 hispanic. That gives me minority status on some forms, but not on others.

I really doubt that most of us give a damn about color or nationality here....we're Mavs fans and that says it all. As Chi posted, we all derive from the same source.

As I once posted, all Mavs fans, wherever they are, are Texans at heart and in spirit.

On this board, we're all about inclusion.

Maybe you'd do better restarting that "Mavs gear I own" thread you posted a long time back...
