Ughhhhhh what an average move. Was John Henson not available? Kidd didn't seem to play him much last season.

zaza's pretty good. But this is clearly a attempt to appease Carlisle type move, he can defend, and pass and do the little things, he's a solid player. Advanced numbers like him a lot. To get him into the cap room and just give up a second rounder is really nice.

Well you touch on something here. It probably is to appease Carlisle.
Cuban probably knows if he shows any sign of rebuilding from scratch that Carlisle will most likely move on.

We don't have many choices outside of average at this point.
He's a banger and won't be pushed around by guys like Howard, Gasol, Duncan, Asik, and some others.
This was really a good move for the Mavs but my concern is that it is a move to get us into the 8-14 draft range.

I have always liked Za Za. He can be quite physical in the middle. Should be able to get nasty with Jordan and Howard. I like it.

He's an active big but more importantly he's an expiring that we can trade along with Felton later this season if an opportunity arises.
Not a difference maker but now I see neither is Jordan.
I'm glad Jordan realized that too before he signed with us because he definitely doesn't have the qualities to suit our needs.
Someone called him a Najera in a big body when he was drafted so hopefully he will surprise us.

Yeah, this does seem like a "collecting assets" type of move -- especially since Carlisle should be able to drive up Zaza's value by utilizing him correctly.

If we're collecting assets let's collect some young ones! Especially considering the 50-75% chance we don't have a first round pick next year.
Edit: to be clear I like this move... we needed somebody (anybody!!!) to rebound and play D down low

He played over 70 games last year, but the three seasons prior he only played 50+. Maybe that's why they brought him in.

We needed DJ to get through the west. Since we blew it, we should tank. Not happy about this half ass effort to be good again.

I want to see Zaza doing this every night.

Mavs should totally do a Slap Shot season. Hey, if the NBA encourages b***h moves like the one the Clippers did, then the Mavs should hand it right back at them.

I can't wait to watch our games against the Dips this year. We'll probably get slaughtered on the scoreboard but Zaza will not back down and will most likely get some good shots at their wimpy center.
I mentioned last night that we should get someone big enough to take some shots at him and I think Cuban found the perfect guy. Probably one of the main reasons we went after Zaza and I'd love to hear the conversation between him and Cuban before we play the Dips.

I'd still like to see the Mavs sign Tyler Hansbrough. Imagine ZaZa and Hansbrough on the court at the same time.

I like this term. The Dips aka NWA (Not Winning Anything), DeBitch Jordan, Glenda Rivers, Chrissy Paul, That ugly carrot top Motherfxcker, Steve Bitchmer and the rest of that franchise can all go to hell. F em.

So Zaza is going to be our starting center, for sure? No other options out there so that he will become our backup instead? I guess it could be worse. Haywood could be our starter.

Cuban: "We have been trying to trade for Zaza and finally were able to pull the trigger. He is a good rebounder and in the hard to believe category, he shoots the 15 foot pick and pop jumper at the same level as ... Dirk. Look it up."

I'm not really a fan of when Cuban makes statements like that, just plays right into that smarter than the room mindset that nobody really likes.
I don't know about pick and pop numbers but Zaza did shoot the 10-16 foot jumper at a 49% clip last year( http://www.basketball-reference.com/...pachuza01.html).

Think you're reading some subtext that's not really there. He was just offering an interesting fact that a lot of his Cyberdust followers probably don't know.

Probably right. I guess when you invoke the name Dirk and then reference someone's mid range game my fan boy bleeds through too much.

I've always thought of Zaza as a Bill Laimbeer type of player.
