Random Mavs Free Agency Rumors (Everyone Is Probably NOPE)
@MokeHamilton: After polling various sources, I can say the Lakers, Spurs, Bulls, Rockets, Mavericks and Knicks are all going to pursue Timofey Mozgov.

@BA_Turner: Jamal Crawford to talk with Clippers, New York, Orlando, Dallas, Miami when free agency starts, per source.

What on earth happened to Mozgov. He's worse than Pachulia these days.

He played a total of 11 minutes in the four Cavs wins (2.75mpg), including a DNP in game 7. Yeah, dude is on his way out.

I think was Mozgov was injured quite a bit this season and didnt fit what they were doing. May be some David Lee reclamation potential there. Or not.

Speaking of David Lee - I thought he filled a nice backup role here. Anyone heard anything regarding him.

Donnie should have him be an option to re-sign. Depending how the starting line is formed.

@espn_macmahon: "He's just trying to create leverage," an NBA source said of Dwyane Wade putting out feelers to teams, including the Mavs and Spurs, as reported by ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Zach Lowe wrote a pre-free agency article (linked below) that included this blurb about the Mavs:
Quote:
Dallas dreams of luring both Mike Conley and Hassan Whiteside on max deals, per ESPN BlackBerry maven Marc Stein, but absent a series of salary-sloughing trades, the Mavericks can't open up the requisite $49 million in room with Chandler Parsons' cap hold sitting on the books. Rumors have already burbled that the Mavs don't want to offer Parsons a max after his knee issues, and that Parsons could seek his payday elsewhere.
The Mavs have whiffed on every big-name free agent since they let Tyson Chandler walk, and they will have a ton of competition for Whiteside and Conley; the Grizzlies are almost as confident about re-signing Conley as they were with Marc Gasol last offseason.
The Mavericks can keep Parsons' Bird rights as they negotiate with bigger fish to hedge against the nightmare scenario of losing out on everyone, though Parsons can torpedo that by signing someplace else right away. Teams are terrified about Parsons' knees and crow they will hold firm at a number below his max. But Parsons is eligible only for the lowest-tier max deal, starting at about $22 million, and a GM on thin ice with chambered cash might bite that bullet -- especially if he can persuade Parsons to take a shorter deal.
Parsons might want to lock in as much moola as possible now; he knows his knees better than anyone, and the uncertainty of a revised collective bargaining deal looms.
Regardless: Dallas again faces serious downside on the treadmill of mediocrity. Dirk Nowitzki doesn't want to leave, but he's also tired of losing in the first round.

If Mavs signed Wade, I would seriously have to rethink my loyalty. That is the one player I have zero respect for and the most hate of any player.
And if I saw Dirk and Wade sharing the court, both in Mavs jerseys ... everyone stay back because i'm not sure I could keep from throwing up.

Sefko seems to think our odds of getting Conley are good. Says SF is "a hole to fill"
So we should probably start a Parsons appreciation thread

Hell, might as well plan the parade route while we're at it!

I continue to be surprised at the amount of optimism on getting Conley. I hope those people are correct, and I am the pessimist who gets it wrong.
If the Mavs get Conley and Whiteside, I truly wouldn't worry about the SF position as much. I think Justin Anderson is ready for a bigger role. You can always find a veteran later on who can help out. As an example, just look at what Richard Jefferson was able to do for Cleveland. There will be guys available.
Now, if the team swings and misses on the big targets, they need to find the best players possible. If that's at SF, get them and worry about it later. Players win games.

I don't think Conley has a lot of great options... so Dallas could be the mediocre option that ends up with him.

@nicolas88batum: Off to Dallas. See you in 2 weeks Paris!
Could be nothing, could be something...

My gut's telling me it's probably nothing. Though it would be a fun precedent for 2nd-tier free agents to break news of their own meetings with teams.

I don't like that this whole FA has a real possibility to turn into a disaster.
Other than that, should be exiting days ahead.

That's how everyone feels, but I hope people are sober enough to realize that Conley/White is still a long shot at best. People tend to build up expectations then lash out like 5 year olds who haven't napped all day.

I think the lashing may be worse than ever...around the entire league. Every team thinks theyre getting a big name FA.

Good. He got his QO, so he's an RFA. Plus, he disappears when the pressure is on

@ChrisBHaynes: Toronto granted first meeting with DeMar DeRozan in LA on July 1, sources tell @clevelanddotcom. Miami, Dallas, Philly, Lakers could follow.

@sam_amick: DeMar DeRozan has decided to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors, @USATODAYsports has learned. Terms not finalized.

@cole_mentzel: Tim MacMahon mentions that the Mavs could turn to Dwight Howard for a one-year deal, should they miss out on Hassan Whiteside.
