Official Rangers Thread part 3. Doc, quit being an ass.
"I didn't watch the game either, but Oki pitched the bottom of the 8th when we were down 2 runs. My guess is that Buck wanted to make sure he pitched tonight, as it had been a few nights since he pitched. Since we came back, we had another inning to pitch, and Buck had already used Oki for an inning."
JThig....BINGO.

They were closed because Rob is such a sensitive loser that he could not stand to be called out and embarrased for being so stupid. He can spin it any other way he wants but those are the facts.
He is the worst mod in the history of this site and only uses his mod abilities when it suits his agenda. In this amazing playoff run has he posted in the GDT's? The Mavericks forum in general? That's all you need to know about Rob and his lack of ability and intellect.

Yeah. This is gonna work.
On topic: Besides the rest issue, anyway, it's not uncommon for teams to use their closer on the road in the eighth when they are behind but not by far.

Whatever you do, don't use the term 'mod skirt'. That is a patented Murph phrase.

I haven't heard an update lately, other than he's started throwing. I think he's still looking at August.
Certainly Padilla looks like someone that might need replacing soon.
I read a quote somewhere that Loe coming out of the starting lineup was about as likely as Millwood.

How in the hell:
do we allow 16 runs to the Kansas City Royals
do we put up an 8 spot in one inning and still lose
do we allow more than 15 hits to the Kansas City Royals
is our pitching this bad
is Kameron Loe so bad

To be fair to Kam Loe, he was pitching after the funeral of one of his close friends who died in a car accident.
Anyone catch Bryan Corey's debut today? 4 batters faced, 4 Ks. Nice.
EDIT: And he gets the W.

Let's see... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5999/ From the game recap:
Quote:
Corey (1-0), who began his major-league career with Arizona in 1998 -- and made just four total appearances with the Diamondbacks and Los Angeles -- struck out all four batters he faced for the win.
The 32-year-old Corey, whose last big league appearance came with the Dodgers in 2002, previously had one strikeout in just five innings.
|
Not a kid, a journeyman we got at some point. He was dominating at Frisco & OKC. Did we get him this offseason? If so, the scouting dept just continues to impress lately.

Look at what we got for him. I would trade him 10 times over if e get what we got everytime. Our pithcing improved 100% by trading him.
where would we be without Otsuka in the bullpen.

Anyone see Ozzie Guillen's tirade last night? Padilla hit Pierzynski twice, and apparantly Ozzie warmed up two pitchers in the seventh, and brought in the first (Tracey) apparantly just to bean Hank. Tracey threw inside a couple times but never hit him, and eventually got him to ground out.
Ozzie immediately yanks the guy, then throws a hissy fit in the dugout, throwing water everywhere and getting in the kid's face. Tracey had to pull his jersey over his head to cover tears apparantly. Then they sent him to AAA today.
Wow.
Ozzie is an ass to do that...BUT...you can earn/lose a lot of respect from your teammates in that situation. You have to protect your hitters. Ozzie's reaction was ridiculous, but that kid's got to get the job done there and send the message.

Personally, I hope that kid takes a bat to Guillen's head. That piece of shit somehow road the tail of his players to a championship last year. That guy will be found dead in a ditch some day.

We went to the game & didn't see what happened. I feel really bad for the kid, but at the same time, it's curious that he didn't just do it. I mean, what better way to get in good w/your teammates as a kid up in your third major league game? I bet he doesn't stay in their system for long.
Padilla looked GREAT last night.

I live in Illinois and all the radio stations are up in arms talking about how the White Sox are 'guilty' of losing their championship edge. Didn't see what happened but seems like it's fairly obvious. Supposedly Guillen was upset that Tracy was called out to pitch and that "no, I wanted the other pitcher to come in!" haha, lol - dude, you're the manager - what a lousy lie. Hope no one gets hurt even if there are a couple bean balls thrown tonight.
interesting also to note that Randy Johnson buzzed someone and got ejected on the same night and he left to a standing ovation...
I know there's been some chat about having an enforcer on the Mavs, or at least someone willing to give a hard foul type of thing. Anyone wanna opine about this topic in baseball? Especially in the AL where pitchers don't bat and you don't put yourself at risk...
(last question a little off topic - who do the stars have these days to take on people and protect modano et al...? Haven't followed hockey for a while but didn't Derian Hatcher have some rep for being a tough guy? )

Last year, they had "goon by committee" b/c w/the new rules, you can't really just carry one dude who does nothing but fight. Jeremy Stevenson & Nathan Perrott pretty much did the job, but I don't really think either of them will be around next season. Ott will certainly step up when called upon. Hatch was good back when his knees weren't constantly falling apart. In retrospect, it was a good move not sign him before the lockout.
I see the Rangers did about as well as the Mavs tonight. Wave goodbye to first place. That's depressing on a night like this.

Yeah, I feel bad for the kid too, but still in that situation it's an unwritten rule of baseball that when another team hits one of your players, you retaliate. Ozzie told him to do it, and he should have done it. He lost a lot of respect from the rest of his team by not doing it.
On the other hand, Ozzie definetly shouldn't have made such an outburst over it.

Good 5-3 win tonight. Hopefully, we can start a winning streak. Oakland is gonna be really tough down the stretch. How about Wilkerson tonight? And who would have thought after his bad start that he would be leading the team in HR's? And nice defense by Kinsler tonight. I love this kid. And Tex needs to step up BIG TIME! He's done virtually nothing! And why was Blalock coming over on the 1st base side to get that ball tonight??

I'm sitting here wondering if I'm the only one waiting for the Oakland game to end before going to bed - 16th inning and counting.
Its only June Mary....
Its only June.
