Jason Terry to Celtics
Marc J. Spears@SpearsNBAYahoo
Celtics are in final discussions on terms of a multi-year deal with Mavericks free agent guard Jason Terry, sources tells Yahoo! Sports.
The same writer is reporting is most likely done deal !!!!
The Boston Celtics have reached agreement with Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry on a three-year contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Celtics will use their $5 million mid-level exception to sign Terry. The total value of the contract will be worth more than $15 million.
Terry spoke with Celtics president Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers on the first day of free agency Sunday. Rivers told Yahoo! Sports he hopes Boston can still re-sign Ray Allen, in addition to adding Terry. The Celtics have also already reached agreement with Kevin Garnett on a three-year, $34 million contract.
Free agents can sign contracts on July 11.
Terry averaged 15.1 points and 3.6 assists while shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point range last season for Dallas. Terry, 34, often expressed frustration about not being signed to a contract extension after being a key member of the Mavericks' 2011 NBA championship team.

This. JET already said he would allow Dallas to match any offer he gets on the open market.

He's not getting matched.
I hope Mavs fan give him a standing ovation when he returns in a Celtics jersey.

JET wasn't even a question to begin with. At some point Donnie and Mark got tired of him talking trash throughout the season.

If this were to be true, it'd be a sad day. It might not necessarily turn out to be a bad decision business-wise to let him go, but emotionally it'd be tough to see Jet in another jersey after everything he's done as a good player and a good guy.

It was a great 8 years. There were a lot of ups and downs during his tenure. Truth is, the writing was on the wall this last season. But JET will go down as one of the most clutch players in Mavericks' history and without a doubt, we wouldn't have won a ship in 2011 without him. In fact, we wouldn't have won a lot of games without him. That Dirk/JET 2 man game in the fourth quarters was lethal. He is one of the best players in the league's history to never make an all star game. I wish him the best of luck in Boston.
Thanks, Jason Terry.

We could be looking at watching Deron, Howard, Kidd, Terry, Chandler, Barea, Butler, and Stephenson slip through our fingers in less than 7 months.

Oh come on. Pryzbilla, Thabeet, Brandon "no knee cartilage" Roy, Josh Howard, and flirting with players bound to end up on other teams ain't doing it for you?

Man, I sure am glad we didn't sign Chandler for $30 million.
When is the financial flexibility parade scheduled?

If we don't get Deron, we should match Terry. 5/15 is a bargain. He would not have signed and extension if offered that in February.
There is an old saying about a bird in the hand being better than 2 in the bush. I was planning to bring it up in regards to letting our top 5 center leave in hopes of getting Howard, but it applies just as well to Jet.
Still holding out hope for Deron, though.

We can't do that, without financial flexibility we won't even make the playoffs next year.

Terry for 5 mil is a bargain for sure. I was expecting him to demand 9-10 mil. I hope dallas will match such a puny offer, unless it's Terry who just wants to move on.

Yeah, I wouldn't take it as gospel just yet.
But, it does jive with my assessment of Jet, his pride, and his ability to make bigger sacrifices for a different team.

If it turns out it is true (which I really do doubt, and not just because I like the guy), I'll gladly concede that point to you.

I really don't put much stock in anything Ben Rogers says unless corroborated.
