GDT: Mavs @ Suns February 17th - 9:30 CST/10:30 EST
For those who want to relive last night's magic, the recap is here http://www.mavsmoneyball.com/2011/2/...eaubois-return
One more game before the All-Star Break. The Mavericks can record their 40th win before the break with a victory on Thursday. Dallas was 32-20 at the All-Star Break last season.
Dallas has won seven of the last nine meetings with Phoenix. The Suns have won the last 17-of-25 match-ups in Phoenix and hold an all-time record of 44-18 at home against the Mavericks. The two teams met for the first time this season on 12/17/10 and Dallas recorded a 106-91 win. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry led Dallas in scoring with 18 points apiece. Suns point guard Steve Nash left that game in the first quarter after suffering a stinger and did not return.
Food for Thought Stats:
Dallas has scored 100-plus points in 11 of its last 12 games. The Mavericks are 28-2 when they reach the century mark.
At least five Mavericks have scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games. Dallas is 26-4 when at least five players score 10-plus points.
Dallas is 19-9 (.679) against plus-.500 teams this season. The Mavericks were 28-19 (.596) against teams with a winning record in 2009-10.

Now this one should be fun to watch....two old, however very good point guards going at it.....and the match up of TC and Gortat. Not to mention another look at The Frenchman.

I'd keep Rod coming off the bench for a bit.
Also, keep in mind that this is JJB's team.

All right one preseason game under the belt for Roddy...now it's time to turn it on. Nash-Kidd will probably matchup to start both halves and if there's anything on the line, last 2 minutes. I expect to see some of Roddy, and JJ on Nash. Kidd will probably be on VC, which is in reality an easier matchup since VC is more of your iso type player, rarely moves off the ball. Yea, that Gortat - Chandler matchup look to be one to keep an eye on. Banging away at each other. Dirk's probably licking his chops with Frye matching up with him, though if you get Frye started, that guy can go bonkers on the stripe.

Who will guard Rodrigue when he plays the 2 with Kidd? It won't be Nash, right?

Phx, starts nash, VC, Hill, Frye and Lopez
Gortat, Pietrus, Dragic, Dudley, Warrick are the top guys off the bench.
Hill has actually been ding up the best offensive player. I think Nash, Dragic, Hill will have a go at him. I think Roddy just has to attack every time he gets the rock in a one on one situaation and collapse the defense.

Big Wood is back? Hmmmm, let's see what he can do against their bench center - Gortat.
Hope tonight we will see Roddy finishing lob from Kidd.

RC needed his size against Cousins, then in coaching intuition, RC kept feeding him minutes, he played with energy.
There was one attempt to run Roddy a lob, but Greene sniffed it out and grabbed him.

In my proven tradition of only posting about myself in pre-game threads, I hereby declare that I hate 10:30 games, which tip off at 4:30am my time, but that in this special occurence I am more than happy to stay up as I only got to bed at 11 am after the Boobfest and hence got up at 9 pm. Therefore I will stay up (it's kinda midday anyway now) for this game and proclaim my final exam in uni at 12 am as just being on the end of a long day (9pm-12am). In this spirit I also happily add: Go mavs!

Mavs at Suns is always my favorite match up. Bunch of old school bada$$es going at it. Dirk, Kidd, Nash, Carter(UNC, baby!), Hill.. Going to be a fun one. I missed Roddy play last night (had to work and they wouldn't let me change the channel; had to watch Denver at Milwaukee >_>) so I'm eager to see this one. I went through and read the comments from last night. Sounded really exciting. Got my Kidd jersey on, ready to roll. Hoping Chicago whips SA. Kind of a Boozer fan, even if he did go to Duke.

I like Nash, but I want him to have a bad game tonight.
(not, "give yourself a concussion by running into Tyson Chandler's leg" kind of bad, but I certainly don't want him going off on us...)

Haha I laughed so hard when he got that stinger from Chandler. It wasn't funny, but I loved our chances of winning at that point. It happened in the first, didn't it?

Oooh damn. I'd like to think Roddy can handle the backup spot like Barea.. but this is only his second game, and this is a decent (not great) team we're playing. Suns are considerably better than the Kings, I'd say.

Agreed haha. Nash can't defend a paper bag. Although, I don't think the Mavs will be starting a paper bag at PG tonight.
