Well, if the Mavs sign him at the instant that they're allowed, they've effectively taken the Rockets out of the Bosh hunt, unless they want to let Parsons go.

Definitely a calculated gamble that could pay off. Houston is going to have to have a huddle in the next few days.
I just hope we don't lose out on Ariza/Deng while we wait.

THIS.
Honestly out of the three, it really wont bother me too much which one we land, as long as we dont lose out on Ariza/Deng while Mavs fans wait another three days for this to unfold.

Wouldn't take it for granted that Houston matches this. It's still more likely than not, but given that they apparently negotiated all day and couldn't get him to not agree to it, it's possible they are adverse to the luxury tax consequences.
Also, the timing with LeBron/Bosh just got very tricky for Houston.

It didn't get tricky. It's impossible. They can't sign one without renouncing parsons now

Think you misunderstood me. It's not "impossible" if Bosh tells them within the first three days that he's staying in Miami. It's "tricky" to the extent that, if the Rockets haven't heard from him about 2.5 days in, they will have to make a decision blind.

I was wrong about the rules, so I apologize for that(even though they are incredibly stupid) but in all honesty it's still mostly impossible. They have to finalize the asik trade, trade literally everyone but harden, Howard, parsons and beverly and then get bosh to sign the contract and have it all done by the 3rd day. That's a ton of moving parts to

Well, they already have a trade in place with Philly for Lin (reputable Philly blog reporting it), so they're really not that far off.
I'm reversing course a bit from before. I think they may pull off nabbing Bosh and keeping Parsons. But I'm totally speculating and obviously have no real idea.

15M per is obviously too much, but FO seems to think he's the missing piece and willing to overpay in the three years that Dirk (probably) has left.
Not having that fourth year makes it acceptable.
That said, I would still have liked a Deng/Ariza/more defense type better.

Actually our upgrades in both the small forward and center positions do that. Yes, we did take a step back in the point guard position, but it's not nearly as noticeable as big as our leaps forward in the others... especially if we add Mo Williams.
Let's look at the players who have been added along with those who are gone from last season.
New: Chandler Parsons, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Richard Jefferson, Greg Smith
Old: Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Devin Harris, Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Gal Mekel, Ricky Ledo
Gone: Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Vince Carter, DeJuan Blair, Shane Larkin
Likely gone: Shawn Marion
Likely returning: Bernard James

VC and Blair are the only 2 guys im really going to miss on the court. Ill miss Marion but in a he's done so much for this franchise kind of way.

If Bosh takes a cut to play with them, they can.
So one might want to hope that LeDecision postpones long enough.

Can someone please explain to me the consequences of going over the cap? Like if Houstons signs Bosh AND matches this offer, what even happens to them??
Btw I love this move. You have to overpay in FA these days, and he fills a HUGE need. Even if HOU matches, you force them to overpay and will still probably have a great chance at Ariza/Stephenson/Deng. If you told me before the offseason we'd end up with Chandler Parsons and Tyson Chandler, I wouldn't believe it. And after this Id love to package Wright+Felton to free up 8-9 mil more space and go get a quality backup big man like Jordan Hill, bring in Mo, and resign Carter. That'd be the perfect offseason.

Someone educate me on the cap situation if this goes through. If Parsons is signed (and all the other deals go through; Dirk, Harris, Carter, etc.) do the Mavericks still have the full MLE to spend? Thanks.
About the move, ultimately I think you have to like it. Parsons is young and a good three point shooter. He is the surest bet of the 2nd tier SFs, and he will help the spacing on this squad (again, if the deal goes through). The Mavericks were going to have to overpay for one of Ariza, Deng, or even Stephenson, and if it is Parsons that is the one then I think that is the best case scenario.
If the full MLE is available I would love to see the Mavs go after some shooters (or even an Ed Davis or Okafor type to shore up the front court). Wright is still there to dangle in trades too.

No MLE. Zack Lowe described it well recently: A team cannot get under the cap, use cap space to sign outside free agents, and then use the full midlevel exception. The full midlevel is only for teams that start and stay over the cap
In fact, we don't have any cap room for Carter if this goes through, so I think our only chance at Vince is if he took the room exception (I think $2.7MM?).
Plus still no real backup center, still no backup 4, and still Felton as the starting PG.

Per Larry Coon, the offer sheet will NOT create a cap hold on the Rockets' books until it is matched. So if the Rockets hustle, they can sign Bosh with cap space AND match on Parsons. Brutal.

And trade Lin. They probably have the stupid ass sixers on hold on the other line to take that deal though.

Ariza on Cavs Lebron backup list......so if Lebron sticks with Miami, Bosh returns as well....Houston matches Parsons and the Mavs fight the Cavs for Ariza.

Well, Houston's still in the driver's seat with Parsons, and there are plenty of ways for them to complicate life for Dallas, with or without Bosh, but I can't say I'm sorry to see the Mavs' pressing the action here. There are costs if Houston matches, but other free agents' agents are surely aware that Dallas' money won't be spent until it's actually spent, and Dallas is unlikely to stop negotiating with their other targets while Houston retains matching rights.
