what are you talking about? I wasn't referring to UnderDog "posting" the youtube. Let me be more clear. The idiots who leave comments after every youtube clip should be slaughtered.

I have never been as pumped up for a movie as I am for this one. I've followed this baby from day one, and it's almost here after three long years. I've already pre-ordered my ticket for the midnight IMAX showing.
I'm trying to keep from going insane waiting for it. The internet hype isn't making it easier. There's only been a few official reviews for it so far, but every one of them is calling it a masterpiece. One critic even said it belonged on the same list as "the Departed," "Heat," and "The Untouchables" of great crime-dramas. More than one critic has called the greatest comic-based movie ever made, and even more have compared it to "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Godfather Part II" in terms of sequel quality.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_dark_knight/
All the while I just have to keep telling myself that I've waited three years, so I can wait another two weeks.
BTW, one thing anyone who doesn't know already should be aware of before taking their kids to see it is that THIS IS NOT A KIDS MOVIE. I've read just about every available review for it so far and pretty much every critic at some point mentions that this movie is perhaps the most violent and intense movie to ever net a PG-13 rating, and they go on to say they wonder how "The Dark Knight" avoided an R-rating. As an adult male lifelong Bat-fan with no kids, this is what I've been waiting to hear my whole life. However, anyone with small kids thinking they can take them to see this and then go to McDonald's and get Batman toys in the happy-meals might want to think twice. Try "Wall-E" instead.

I too pre-ordered my tickets. I've been following this movie for 2 and a half years. The thing i'm worried about is WB's leaking a lot of footage online.
Also, the movie's been selling out so fast, they're doing 3 a.m. showings at IMAX.

I am sooooo disappointed that I'm stuck living here in Waco by myself this summer. 1, there's a major lacking in good theaters, 2, I have no one to see this with. Maybe I can get a date. Ohoho. I crack myself up.

Yeah, girls love it when the first thing you suggest is to go see a comic book movie...
If you find one that actually does love that, you should marry her.

Hey, my wife's probably more excited about Dark Knight than I am. Does that mean she's a keeper?

Not quite. While that picture hasn't been confirmed to be real, it hasn't been proven fake either. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's actually a pic from the movie. WB ordered several websites to take that picture down, and I doubt they'd have gone through the trouble if it was fake.

I don't care for the look at all, but I am pretty sure that is a pic from the movie. Several reviews mention Dent's "computer-generated" scarring. Also this look is virtually identical to the way Tim Sale draws Two-Face, and it's well-documented that Nolan is a fan of Sale's work.

and i wouldn't even call Ledger a star (not like a carrey, Jones, or Clooney). He's gotten way bigger since his death, but he was never a superstar.
The guys in this movie are solid actors - on the second to third tier of stardom level, but arguably on the top level of acting ability.

Ledger was nominated for an Oscar for Brokeback. "one of dem gays" is selling him short.
He was lead in the Brothers Grimm, Cassanova, and A Knights Tale as well.

That doesn't make him a "star" - it just makes him a busy actor...
If Ledger had given us the benefit of having this conversation again after Batman 3, then I'm sure I'd agree with you... But unfortunately, like too many great artists, he passed-on before he peaked-out...
You could make a strong argument about his talent, but "star power" has to do a lot more with box office draws and paychecks than raw talent...

There's a difference between teen heartthrobs and stars - if we're going by the "looks" standard, then pretty much everyone in Hollywood is a star...
We can debate the definition of "star" all day, but I still think Heath Ledger was one Dark Knight away from being EVERYONE'S definition of the word...

Heath Ledger was still known by many. Cant say the same for Bale (prior to batman) or any of the cast aside of Freeman.
Gabriel Martin anyone?

I'd say both Gary Oldman and Michael Caine are very well-established actors (bigger stars than Heath Ledger, anyway - but I guess that's because he never got to play Pontius Pilate or Joseph Stalin before he played the Joker...)

Michael Caine i could agree with, if we were in 1967.

You guys gotta stop calling Tommy Lee Jones an "A-Lister"...
The point I was making was that Rick was 100% incorrect in calling them "unknowns". They may not be the 5 biggest names in Hollywood...or the first names that Jenny and Joe Goobermoviefan think of, but those guys are top of the line and super famous for being actors...maybe their "star" isn't as bright, but they are top tier actors...who are all stars.
Arguing that Heath Ledger isn't a top tier star is goofy...he didn't make Tom Cruise type flicks...but he was still VERY highly regarded and demanded.

Im not saying they arent good actors either, in fact they are great actors. They just arent in the spotlight like the other "a-listers" persay. What im trying to say is i like movies like this one, with a bunch of great actors who arent spoiled and such. Not like batman forever where even drew berrymore had a "minor" role.

so for the record, "unknowns" = anyone not an "a-lister"
now we're on the same page.

The conversation got twisted between several different minds (probably because I wouldn't shut up), but yes...
