Dennis looking good... Hit a couple DEEP threes in a row, had a nice dunk, just made a nifty little move under the basket.

Too bad that buzzer beater rattled out... But Dennis is already at 17 for the half.

Yogi Ferrell was our leading rebounder today... That says a lot about this team.
In other news, Julius Randle (who we were interested in trading Noel for), just had 15 rebounds to go along with 23 points... Kinda wish we'd made that deal.

Part of his great rebounding game and why we lost is tied to coach shitting the bed with the lineups.

Nah, Rick is infallible -- he didn't lose the game, he ingeniously tanked it... Can't fail when you shit gold.

Had to watch this game late. Randle killed us, I think he'd be terrible here though. He's such a bonehead at times, RC would call a TO and yank him so many times. Looks like the same player I've seen for years now, not unlike noel really... just still seems to have the same warts as he's always had... namely that he's prone to being a total idiot at times. Loved DSJ's first half, Lonzo still looks overrated as all hell. If JJ or Barnes don't have below average games we'd prolly win. A good loss overall.

Apparently JJ was struggling with a minor injury, but I haven't seen any details on that.

@danspeak_: Dennis Smith Jr. vs Lonzo Ball.
The Lakers got the win, their first against the Mavs in 15 games.

Smith slowly but surely unleashing that talent of his around the basket. His non-dunks are every bit as impressive.

Good thing JJB had that "injury". RC coached extremely well I thought, just enough to make a close game but a significant loss in the draft standings.
I'm still undecided about Randle until he comes off his rookie salary. For a guy making $4 mill this year and $5.5 next year that can give you the random game like he did, that's pretty nice. He's playing fewer minutes this year but his points are the same and percentage has gone up quite a bit. But then there is no doubt that is a bonehead. If we could get him on a cheap contract, I actually wouldn't mind it. Plus I don't see us getting anything of value for Noel.

Not sure if you’re being facetious, but actually thought Rick totally outcoached Luke. Walton seemed completely unable to make adjustments and draw up plays. The only thing I wondered about was his refusal to play Kleber when Powell and Dirk were getting so destroyed inside, but ultimately both Powell and Dirk were providing offense while the rest of the team wasn’t. We were so desperate for offense that Rick didn’t feel like he could play Kleber apparently. Kleber can’t be trusted to do that apparently.

I think all of Kleber's mins are going to Yogi atm. Yogi has been playing well and RC just loves having multiple playmakers on the floor. Which is why we so desperately need a wing who can be a playmaker. I see no end in sight of this small ball stuff till we get competent wings who do more than just shoot corner 3's and defend.

Which is why Smith needs to be working on his primary playmaking rather than being forced to play off-the-ball as SG

Yogi is a great value find and plays with a lot of heart. I still can't get over his lack of size when I watch him play. He's a nice backup, but I wouldn't hesitate to move him in the right deal. Probably has decent value. He's basically a younger JJB with less playmaking and better defense. Great to have on a championship squad, but the Mavs aren't good and need difference makers.

I mean, he hasn't had a coach like Carlisle yet in the pros and is only 23 years old, is he un-coachable? I'd take the chance. He's at least playing hard, something Noel didn't seem interested in doing.

Randle's upside is much higher than Noel's. That is a big reason to give it a chance.
Still not convinced that the Mavs take on Deng though. Lakers would have to give up a lot for that to happen.
