PGDT: Game 3 - Wolves (0-2) at Mavs (2-0) 7:30 FSSW
Mavs finish the shortened preseason at home against the Wolves
This will probably be the last time Gillespie, Lee, and Hinton see the roster before being cut for a 17 person roster by the season opener against the Suns.
Wolves look to get one win. Mavs look to stay perfect.

I thought Hinton was basically already assured a roster spot as one of the 2 ways

You got me. I put mistakes in there just to see if anyone is paying attention
:b
Although two-way guys (Hinton and Bey) are lucky/unlucky this year. The good is that two-way guys can spend the whole year with their NBA team. The bad news is that Legends opted out, so no way to get tons of playtime.

Hinton won't be cut.
Lee, Gillespie and Patterson will be getting their walking papers soon enough.

What if Lee doesn't get cut... who gets the cut then? I highly doubt it. Just wondering what you all think. Also I hope Gillespie and Patterson get another chance to shine in this last preseason game. Wonder what they have to do in order to steal a roster spot. Triple double? 40 point game? Probably something crazy.

Not happening. RC has already basically confirmed it will be a proper dress rehearsal for the starters.

But didn't we also give Lee a contract to show the league that he's "still able to play"
It's weird that we got him for that and haven't played him 1minute. I know the first two games he was in quarantine/getting tested, but tonight is our last chance to play him in preseason.

Kleber knew he made that as soon as it left his fingers. I like that confidence!

I seriously hope Luka will enjoy some different food soon. He's definitely not like Dirk when it comes to restricting his diet. If he doesn't make some life changes I'm concerned what he'll be like in no more than 10 years from now. It's possible that he'll be fine, but I would prefer that he make some life changes by then. I want him to dominate the league similarly to LeBron. Won't happen if he doesn't put the time into his body like the premiere athletes. Would be a waste of a player who I feel is the greatest talent in the NBA.

As challenging as it may be, Mavs need to make him look really good again... so a team will give up too much for him. We could potentially make another trade similar to the one we made with Curry. I love Curry, but I quickly realize J-Rich is by far the better fit for our team. Powell needs 100% of that athleticism to excel in this league. Unfortunately, he doesn't have that. He reminds me a bit of Finley after his hamstring injury. Difference though? Finley was a far better player.

I'm not sure DP is really struggling with his athleticism. He just plays small and soft. He had that dunk and showed plenty of lift, but when he is in traffic he is super clumsy and just sticks his arms straight up on defense and fumbles the ball around on offense. I think he will retire as a Mav, that seems to be the level of hard on MBT has for him.
I felt like the second the Jrich for Curry trade was announced we got better. The dude is shooting it amazingly but he's unquestionably a better fit and he's just a tier or two better overall player.

I agree. I hate how he just sticks his arms straight up always when defending.

I'd rather have Lee than Iwundu right now. How much of his contract is guaranteed? $3.5 million? Ouch... he's not going anywhere.

Green, meh. He's gonna need to do quite a bit to convince me he isn't another Justin Anderson. Long way to go for the young fella.

The rookies look, super rookie. Green hasn't really impressed me at all in any of the games and neither has Terry. We would have been so much better with Bane.
Hinton is the only took that showed promise and it didnt earn him any more minutes. It seems like less.

We should have just drafted Bane at 18 and call it a day. Or trade back and get more picks.
Hinton looks like the best rookie so far for sure.

Honestly think Green, Bey, and Hinton look great.
Only one who worries me is Terry, but that may be because he’s always called to play lead guard and he’s not an NBA point. Defensively maybe, but he’s simply not a good ball handler, decision maker, or playmaker (yet)
Rest of the guys were impressive

Green looks good? I don't see it. Bey hasn't really played and Hinton looks fine, but gets less playing time after his great performance in the 1st game.

What we have seen out of all these guys is extremely limited, so our opinions are kind of useless, but Green has had a few plays that don't look like his draft profile. Maybe I am misremembering what I read, but I thought he was supposed to be a defense only guy who might be able to shoot the three. He's had several good drives, cuts and passes that suggest otherwise. He had 3 assists and no turnovers tonight. He just hasn't shot well, and had a few awkward finish attempts.

Maybe but I honestly think they keep the guys around for practice. They have practices Friday, Monday, and Tuesday and don't have to cut anyone until the Suns game next Wednesday.

Makes sense to have them around until then. Thanks!

Both backup PG's Brunson and Terry looked bad tonight.
Brunson continues to just put his head down and look to score only. He shot like 1/9 tonight and the ball always seemed to stick with him.
Terry seems like a 2 year project before we see the best of him. But I think he's more of a off ball player spot up shooter.
So my two biggest worries after the 3 pre season games would be consistent play at backup Pg and lack of size and or defense with Powell as the starting 5.

I still don't get why we would have gone after Wood with KP starting.
Seems like having Doncic and going after Simmons

Because he's a massive upgrade to DP and could play next to KP just fine. Replace DP with an actual offensive player, rebounder and decent rim protector.
