Why? This is the type of BS media that is ruining/has ruined any type of serious journalist integrity when it comes to sports. He thought he could get ahead in the click bait/twitter following that is going to inevitably be with the Melo/Bron free agency. He wouldn't have looked like a total and complete dumbass if he had just waited til tuesday.

Co-sign. I don't want him to go home and kill himself or anything (and lets be honest, he's too bereft of professional integrity to take this that hard), but preventable stupidity of that sort should be punished with however much ridicule it takes to stamp it out.

Buchet has always been an ego-maniac with very little to offer. I was glad when he left ESPN so he'd stop screwing up Stein's guest appearances on the BS report.
The funny thing is, the entire industry shrugged him off and ignored him when he started up this rumor last night. His editor should be fired.

What do you guys think about bringing back Anthony Morrow? We had him for a short period of time two seasons ago but he didn't really play much. We haven't really had a guy that was a 3pt specialist since Peja in 2011. Morrow shot 45% from downtown last season. I love that he can shoot the 3 and also knows how to use pump-fakes well to gain separation. I think he could be good in a backup role for Monta and besides that we just really need some good shooters.
PS- This is one of my favorite highlights from Morrow, I love how the crowd was stunned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcMEoGoTMWo

Nothing against Morrow, and Dallas definitely needs shooting, but I don't know why he'd earn minutes this time when he wasn't able to before.

Honestly, I never understood why he couldn't get minutes with us. We traded a good teammate and defender in Dahntay Jones for him. Morrow didn't seem to be able to get into the rotation even though he's one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. Morrow averages 10ppg for his career which isn't groundbreaking, but is pretty good for a backup role. Funny how the same thing happened again this season with Wayne Ellington. So actually you're right, there would be no point in even bringing him back when he probably wouldn't play, even though there seems to be no reason (No apparent reason, at least) why he shouldn't be able to get minutes.

Does Spencer Hawes sound more reasonable now? Just think if we get Blair back. Keep Wright to have Hawes be our stretch 5. Not only would he be cheaper than Pau. But he contributes in certain ways. And is much younger than Pau. His numbers don't look bad offensively. Pair him up with Blair you could have a tricky mix. Even with Wright to add more athleticism down low. It also saves cap for Melo, Parsons, Deng, or Hayward.

Hawes might actually be worse at defense than Calderon... No thanks.

This is actually pretty funny. Add Morrow to the list of guys that have a random amazing night against the Mavs.

Looks like Wade, Haslem, and Bosh are all opting out for smaller deals. Big-4 here we come.

For some reason the Heat just make me laugh at this point. I'm just glad I'm not a fan of that organization. I already have the cowboys to deal with.

Lowry isn't a superstar either so it's 1 superstar and 2.5 stars.

I'm a little surprised that Wade is willing to opt out. Guess LBJ had them over a barrel.

Back 2 Back championships and 4 straight finals appearances isn't nothing.

Whats even more pathetic is Haslem opting out of 4.7m. How cute that hes trying to help the Big 3. Wont get more than vet min now.
Big 3 opting out means Lebron is staying. He gets max. Other 2 take less. Sign another guy or two that they think will make a difference.

Why is Haslem opting out "pathetic"? Is Dirk taking a big pay cut "pathetic"? We kill these guys for being selfish and taking all the money, and now we're killing them because they (appear to be) take less money to win?

Because 4.7 to 1.7. Thats alot of money for a guy thats almost out of the league. I have no problem with the Big 3 taking the cut. Just like the other superstars (dirk, duncan, etc)

Eh we can go round in circles going over the quality of those championships. I can cite the "I'll take my 1 to your 2" argument and all that. Either way you would be mistaking the intent of my original comment. It's more to the core issue of lack of quality news reporting and commentary. The news these days is catered to ratings but watching how it has impacted free agency in the last 6 years has been interesting. You can't blame them all together.... They are in the business of making money and the formula is quite clear. It's the same reason my wife knows so little about Edward Snowden and so much about the Kardashians. The unfortunate consequence is we hear more about the "candy" and less "meat and potatoes".

Because Heat players are evil and Mavs players are good... Duh.

Haslem has made almost $50Mil in his career. If he wants to choose to forgo a bit to make another title run, good for him.

He's going to get a 3 year / $8 million deal, so he's not sacrificing anything. All the wink-wink deals are kind of pathetic but it happens everywhere. It probably happened last year with Devin Harris.

I didn't hear it, but Cuban on 103.3 supposedly said that we weren't going to be offering the max to anyone, and that we are looking at big fish that aren't being talked about. Any guesses as to who they might be? Bledsoe?

Add to that he's played his whole career in Miami. I don't like Haslem because I think he's dirty, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

MacMahon's got a story up. Cuban talks about guys who've been in the league 10+ years in one of the quotes where he mentions not offering the max. Also clear that Rick is the centerpiece of the sales pitch.

I know it just isn't his nature, but I'd prefer Cuban just not say anything. And I have a hard time believing that they wouldn't try to make the room to fit in a Melo or James at a max contract if it came to that.

This. People praise the Spurs when their players do the same. Silly double standard.
FWIW, with the reports coming out that James will want something near a max deal (max for him will be about $26M), it would be almost impossible for the Heat to add Melo unless he takes a substantial pay cut, and Bosh and Wade also take even bigger paycuts than anybody would have expected.

I think they'd give James whatever it took if it came to that, though the news of Wade/Haslem and possibly Bosh opting out suggests it probably won't. Melo…they'd give him a ton of money, but I'll take Cuban at his word that the offer will be at least a bit below his max.
