RE: Lost
eh, not really. i mean, they are stranded on an island. but there is so much more than that. every person has a secretive past, that is dealt with incredibly. and there is something on the island... but they don't know what. very well done show. really good acting, too.

RE: Lost
so this aint no sappy "Dinotopia" nonsense? well, thats good to hear. I hope they don't find out that they've somehow gone back in time or that they are all being watched like lab rats by a rich mad scientist or something cheesy like that. BBL, when is this must see show on, I'll give her a try if I can.

The show looks great and is getting solid reviews...but, it's on at the same time as Smallville...so, I haven't seen it.

sike, if it is a cheezy resolution, i'll be even more disappointed than you. it is gearing up to be one hell of a mystery. I hope the don't cop out with some mystical nonsense.
It's on Wednesday nights, on ABC. At 7 PM central time.

RE: Lost
oh one other thing. it'd be good to have a recap of the episodes so you're not behind... there are some sites with good recaps, i'm sure.
This seems to be a series that would be somewhat difficult to just jump into.

I really wanted to see this show, unfortunately I can't with the time it airs. I wish they would move it to 8 or 9PM.
I really wanted to see Merry stuck on an Island.

RE: Lost
Sorry for the confusion. IMDB has links to buy it on DVD, so I assumed. But when you click it you find out that indeed it's not released until December.
Oh well. Guess I won't be seeing that afterall this weekend.

this is a pretty good movie. it's definitely different, and takes a while to really figure out what's going on, but once there it comes together nicely. an interesting concept to say the least - one i'm sure we've all thought about at times....i also thought jim carrey once again proved he is much more that a strict comedic actor.

To be honest...I was so pumped the day it came out that I took off work and went to the theatre's earliest showing by myself....I wasn't let down in the least bit.

RE: Lost
To get back on the topic of this thread, Lost is a GREAT show and I am just like you BBL... Me and my wife are both stuck in front of the TV every wednesday evening...
I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a spinoff of Land of the Lost by including dinosaurs...

I love this show too. I've been taping it and watching it when I can. I've only seen two episodes. I'm not sure how many have aired.
I love being able to record TV shows. Otherwise, I would never see anything.

RE: Lost
4 total episodes have aired, i believe. The pilot was 2 parts, then 2 episodes since, each an hour apiece.
and male, the writers have gone on record saying it is NOT a dinosaur.
for those that have seen it... (slight spoiler below)
How damn creepy was the french woman's transmission?
this show has great cliffhangers and revelations. it's strange to think that it is a series. it feels so much like a mini-series.
but hey, gilligan's island was on for like 5 or 6 years, right?

RE:Lost
Lost is a darned good show. I got to watch the first two episodes when ABC aired them on an alternate weekend time, but I have class wednesday nights so unfortunately I've missed the last two. Also I've been in a hotel and without my Tivo (DirecTV variety) for about five weeks, three days, eight hours and counting, so I'm kind of screwed as a far as being able to keep up with the show...

yeah, i saw the first two episodes when they were combined into a two hour show. i thought it was much better that way, rather than breaking it up.

if abc were smart, they'd run a marathon to catch people up some time later.

I would hope so but I never expect networks to be smart. I've gotta get me one of those TIVO thingies one day.

true, true. but in my opinion, they are losing potential viewers who won't jump in in the middle... sure they could always buy the dvd later... but i'd be more inclined to buy the dvd if i knew the series was good. TV DVDs aren't cheap.

Networks make FAR more money on advertising than they do dvd sets. The higher the ratings on the show, the more money they can charge for advertising. And the more popular the show, the more dvd sets that sell.
Alias is a prime example. I missed the first 6 episodes but had heard good things about it. The network ran a marathon and I (and a lot of other people) started watching it. Fox is smart with 24 - they always run the first episode twice before the second episode comes out. Carnivale gained a lot of viewers because of HBO's policy of reshowing episodes. So the networks can be smart but...

RE:Lost
By the way... I know what it is like to miss an episode of my favorite show and be lost without knowing what happened, (pun intended)... I did a little bit of research for those of you that want to START watching the show but have missed all episodes up to this point, (or for those of you that have missed any of the past episodes)...
You can find reviews from the following website!
Specifically, here is one of the reviews for episode 1!
.......episode 2!
.......episode 3!
.......episode 4! 4 does not have a full review, but you can read the paragraph caption and likely in a week or so one of the three main contributors will have posted a review!
I hope this helps those of you that are interested but unlucky with your time to this point... TIVO if you have it or record via any standard Cable DVR/VHS... Better yet, plan ahead and free up your Wednesday evening...
Enjoy!

Male, what is interesting to me is the noise the "monster" makes. it is very mechanical, machine-like.

RE: Lost
I dont know... It sure moves fast to be a machine, (although who knows what type of a machine it COULD be)... One of the people that writes reviews for the website I posted believes that the island is somewhat like the movie "The Island of Dr. Moreau" with scientific tests gone wrong... He thinks it also might be a bit like Pitch Black minus the whole eclipse thing...
That is the awesome thing about this show... Poor shows give the plot away early on, but this one has you thinking and wondering and waiting...
I am a big fan!

I hate TV and try to make a point NOT to watch it - but I watched the first episode of Lost and I LOVE it!!! I have been hooked ever since! This last episode with the "Colonel" was sheer greatness! Thank God for Tivo...

RE:Lost
I think I know why you like the show so much, BBL.
and here is an excerpt from the episode guide (episode 2)
"Shannon has found her belongings and retrieved a bikini to take advantage of the sun."
anyway, over the weekend (saturday) I watched episode 1 and 2 on ABC and it was alright. I didnt mind watching two hours of it (and Im ADD), but it wasnt phenomenal. It could get good, but it was just a little soap-opera for me. The handicapped stalker guy, the black guy and his son, the protagonist and his dad...I just didnt get into it.
PS. Dominic "Meriadoc" Monaghan is so hot.
