Kidd agrees to counseling; domestic assault charge dropped
The Arizona Republic
Mar. 13, 2001
Suns star Jason Kidd agreed today to attend a counseling program and pay a $200 fine to avoid prosecution in a domestic assault case.
If he stays crime free for a year, the state will dismiss the matter.
Kidd entered the agreement at a Paradise Valley courtroom.
His wife, Joumana, called 911 on Jan. 18 and told dispatchers that he had slapped her during a quarrel about feeding their 2-year-old son. Kidd admitted that he struck Joumana and was booked on suspicion of domestic violence assault, a misdemeanor, police said.
