ARLINGTON, Texas - John Hudgins, the Most Outstanding Player at last month's College World Series (news - web sites), signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers (news) on Friday.



Hudgins, a third-round pick in last month's draft, will report to the Rangers' Class-A Clinton affiliate in the Midwest League.


Hudgins tied a College World Series record with three wins, leading Stanford to a runner-up finish to Rice. Hudgins was also the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year, going 14-3 with a 2.99 ERA for the Cardinal.


The Rangers have signed 25 of the 44 players drafted this year, including 11 of the top 12 and 15 of the top 17 picks.
