German Hockey team

After beating the highly favored slovakian team (with Palfy, Stumpel and Satan) 3-0 in their first match our great young team went on to beat Austria 3-2 and today Latvia 4-1 (Latvia played with Florida goalie Irbe). So we have reached the main tournament with team Canada, the Czechs and Sweden in our group. Marco Sturm of SanJose, Jochen Hecht from Edmonton and Washington goalie Olaf Koelzig will join the team, but still we have to be considered heavy underdogs in our group.

Anyways if anyone of you follows international hockey and knows what the german team has gone through (we were even down to B-group action for some years) he might understand what reaching the final 8 of the olympic tourney means to this team. The team has been playing really well and has some young and talented players. The NHL has noticed this too, as most of them are drafted already (Goc went 6th in this years draft, Seidenberg 22nd).
