Pheonix was sooo close to landing that early lottery pick last year but Atlanta was top three protected and ended up with the 3rd. Now the Suns won't event get a lottery pick out of it and essentially traded all-star shooting guard Joe Johnson for Boris Diaw and a late first round pick.

Yea. The move was done for salary cap reasons though. I think they just wanted anything in return for him. But like you said they were so close to getting a top pick. Didn't they get the 3rd pick in the draft? Like one off of almost giving the Suns their 4th pick in the draft. Crazy how things happen. Suns probably will end up trading the pick anyway though.
