The girlfriend of Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest was to appear in court today after her arrest on domestic battery charges.
Kimisha Hatfield, 27, admitted striking Artest in the head with her hands on Sunday, said Maj. Dan Nickel of the Hamilton
County Sheriff's Department.
Nickel said Artest, 22, who called police, was waiting outside the Carmel home he is believed to share with Hatfield and the couple's two children when officers arrived.
Hatfield is expected to appear in court later today for an initial hearing. Police said her bond likely will be set at $2,500.
The incident comes after Artest was charged this summer with two counts of harassment, and one criminal contempt charge, for allegedly leaving another woman a threatening phone message.
Jennifer Palma, 22, the mother of another of Artest's children, claimed the Pacers player left a phone message saying he would hurt Palma if she did not return his phone call.
At the time of the alleged threat, Artest was already under order by a Queens, N.Y., judge not to bother Palma.
Neither Artest's attorney, Raymond Heslin, nor representatives of the Indiana Pacers were immediately available for comment.
