My head hurts. You're right thig, this is so chicken and the egg.
The rule, for our purposes should be re-defined like this, in my opinion: "Nothing that the people hurtling through time do in the past will in any way change the events (that were shown to us on the tv screen) of 9/22/2004 to the time when the Frozen Donkey Wheel is turned"
