Star Trek - scene vs science
This is a pretty great read delving into the science behind the new Star Trek movie...

Favorite Space Movie of All Time.
Sorry if it's already been posted above... I stopped reading the thread to avoid spoilers, but this is too good to wait.

Just saw it for the first time with some friends. I give it an A-. Definitely one of the better archetypal Hollywood summer blockbusters you'll ever see.

Finally saw it yesterday. Awesome. For a while though, I kept trying to figure out why Eric Bana was being such a dick instead of just saving his homeworld. He could have sent Spock a message that said "Please fly faster when you're trying to save a whole world."
OT: the preview of "9" looked really interesting.

I'm currently watching the other movies.
I hated the first one. Truly god-awful. I couldn't even finish it. I've never watched a more slow-paced movie in my life.
I liked The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock. Much faster-paced, much more personality in them.
I'm currently watching The Voyage Home. As ridiculous as it is, it's my favorite one so far. I have no idea why. It's just ridiculous. Chekov asking a cop where to find the nuclear wessels. Spock trying to swear. Kirk acting like he knows what the hell he's talking about.

Yes...2, 3 and 4 are a great set, IMO. Love em.
If you have to watch 5...well...make a drinking game out of it or something. It's hilarious. And it's not supposed to be.
6 is good.

I've got 5 to watch after this. Then I have to go back to the library and get 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. It'll be a weird shock with 7, though, as they switch casts, because I've gotten used to the current cast, and my only experience with the cast of The Next Generation is that episode of Family Guy a few weeks ago.

Ugh. The search for the humpback whale movie was ridiculous. Maybe I can appreciate it more now...
First Contact. I don't want to oversell it, but it's f'ing fantastic.

Wow, my first impressions of the TNG crew is rather mixed. It's probably because Data was one of the most annoying creatures ever in Generations. Also, the movie itself seemed like a long television episode. I understand that First Contact is much better, which is a relief. I did not like Generations. What a pathetic way for Kirk to die. He should have died sacrificing himself to get someone else a great deal on a flight and hotel.
