How can you call someone a crappy player just based on their rookie year?

Rip would rather sit on the bench in DET than play in Cleveland. Ouch

They have an open roster spot for Troy Murphy when he gets bought out.

Deadline was 40 minutes ago, but I think there's some breathing room...

Its already over. Unless there was a trade open a while ago, its not happening until next season.

ChrisMannixSI: Troy Murphy wanted to come to Boston before this. Now it seems highly likely he winds up there.

Teams have to notify the league they have something in place by the deadline and can work it out once it passes.

Eh well...I figured a trade was a long shot after the Harris rumor.
I'm pretty damn happy with our team and view Chandler as the big acquisition. Let's kick some ass.

I think both Boston and Murphy knows the situation, not sure but Murphy may have already made it known by telling his agent that is where he wants to end up

I'm disappointed the Mavs didn't make a move. I think it will result in them coming up short once again.
At the same time, psyched for the rest of the year and the playoffs. Should be a lot of fun. And you never know...

Celtics traded Daniels to Sac for cash
http://twitter.com/GotEm_Coach/status/40879543371702272
Even if Celtics do sign Murphy they're in bad shape. Who are their centers? Shaq and Jermaine O'Neal? Eww

We've pretty much known if we're not getting Lebron, Kobe, DHoward, Blake...essentially top 15 caliber players, Roddy isn't going any where.

Leon Powe's getting buyout from Cleveland. An undersized backup 4, to throw bodies around in the paint?

Me too. We tried to get Prince for a reasonable price and it just wouldn't work out. As far as Devin is concerned, perhaps the deal wouldn't have happened anyway due to the Jazz' late offer. That said, I do hope it wasn't a case of us playing hardball for no good reason other than the Deron Williams pipe dream. I believe that Prince and Harris could have helped for different reasons and would have made us an even better team than we already are.
Whether we'll regret not going for Wallace remains to be seen. Other than that, I'm definitely happy that we didn't acquire players like J.R. Smith, Mayo or Jackson. All three of them have the potential to be nutjobs and disrupt our chemistry.
All things considered, I'm not extremely confident as it relates to our chances to win it all. We'll be good down the road, maybe just not THAT good. Another two-dimensional SF with good defense like Caron or Prince may still be missing. Hopefully, Peja and Roddy can stay healthy and be productive for us. Peja even more so because of our awfully thin forward rotation.
Trade or not, I definitely think highly enough of our current team to be pumped about the rest of the season. We're far from hopeless. Go Mavs!

Oh, I'd like that. Dunno how much he'd really play but it'd be nice to have him if it's on the cheap.

Really wish we could have got Crash. Portland didn't give up all that much. It's not like what they got is significantly better than Butler + 1st + DoJo. Slightly, but not hugely. Seems like that's a steep drop off from allegedly requesting Roddy + Butler.

I think it had more to do with dedicating to the next couple years of his contract than what we'd have to give up...
If the Mavs FO isn't sold on him being a long-term solution for this team through the rest of Dirk's prime (understandable, considering his injury history), then why dedicate a bulk of your future assets to the guy, especially with all questions surrounding the new CBA?
Besides, we still need to re-sign Tyson Chandler...
(not that I wouldn't love to see Crash in a Mavs uni, but it's not my money...)

Here is what they got.
Quote:
The blow was softened a bit when the details of the trade were made official, and it was learned the Bobcats would actually be receiving Przybilla, Dante Cunningham, Sean Marks and two future first-round picks. The first-rounders are the Blazers' 2011 (originally from New Orleans and is top-seven protected) and 2013 selections.
|
You think that what we were offering was of equal value? I do not. Our picks are going to be +25 and dojo is as likely to be a bust as a player.. He certainly projects out to a very, very late first or second rounder to me.

Been talking about it for two days now...I think JJ might not be an option based on the amazing basketball he is playing since January 1. He's making next to nothing and someone is going to give him some decent money. It won't be MLE money but it could be in the $3-4 million range.
Short or not, the numbers are speaking for themselves and people have been paid off of worse performances.

Agree that he stands to get himself a good raise. But not sure I follow what you mean by 'might not be an option'.

He means that he's not sure that the Mavs will be interested in bringing him back at an elevated salary.
I'm been pondering it a bit myself. It's fairly useless speculating about it before the new CBA is in place, but in a hypothetical world where the current rules are still in place, I think it's very likely that someone would offer JJ more money than the Mavs want to pay.

I see it being like a Brandon Bass situation. Good player but the Mavs definitely view him as a bench player with Kidd still here and Roddy anointed the future.

Right, that was what I meant by my comment.
If they're thinking Butler could come back and keeping Chandler is the top priority, then I'm not sure how Barea fits into the plan.

A lot of it depends on what Roddy can do as a point guard and whether or not he's better off playing shooting guard anyway. This summer, Kidd will be going into his last year under his current contract while Roddy still hasn't convinced everyone and their mothers that he can be a good point guard in this league. Chances are we won't be able to understand what Roddy can do as a 1 this season. That's why I don't think that we'd have the luxury to let JJB walk for nothing in return like we did with Bass. When it comes to our point guard situation, I can't help but be a little worried. If JJB was gone in a couple of months, it would be even worse.

As a backup point guard, would you say he's at least worth more than $1.8 million?
