PGT: Mavs beat some scrub team, can't remember their name...
Dirk's shot is in a funk - hopefully he's just getting the bad games out of his system before the playoffs.
Great team win tonight, considering that Carlisle looked like he was tinkering a bit in lieu of Odom...

My prediction:
Dirk with 25+ points - X
Wright with 15+ points - X
Kidd with double digit assists -X
Terry with 20 points - X
and Roddy with some burn for 10 points and 5 rebounds. - CHECK
Well this is why i won't make it as a professional fortune teller.
Edit: Also great games from Yi and The Wright Stuff. Still hard for me to feel excited with the team right now. But then again i felt the same way last season and we all know how that season turned out.

I loved seeing our bench so active, cheering and happy! Such energy. You could feel it watching the game. We have a few slumps but once we took the lead, their was no looking back.

The offense looked so much better tonight, especially the ball movement, Kidd's impact was obvious... And how about the block in transition ..... It's great to have him back!
True they let the Kings hang around a little too long, but the game was never really in doubt, at least not in my mind... If Dirk had been hitting his shot tonight, this game would have been a blowout by the start of the 4th...
Hopefully Delonte's hand is alright, that was bothersome to see him clutching it...

Question- Why do we have Post-Game Threads? Isn't all of the discussion already in the Game-Day Thread?
Ya...that's what I thought. This forum is hypocritical and bogus. I'm out.

didnt watch much of the game, but from looking at the box score, very balanced scoring/shot attempts. was hoping to win by more, but a win is a win. lets go on a streak and move up a couple of spots. i got a feeling a team or two above is gonna end the season on a bad note.

Nope.
The Game Day Thread tends to be a stream of consciousness where posters react to the game as it happens. It's all heat of the moment and there's a lot of cussing, but the mods let it slide because that thread is seen as a venting point by the forum...
The Post Game Thread tends to be more of a reflection/analysis of the game... Or Dirk squirrel nuts. Whatever.

Carlisle was trying some new stuff out - kept the minutes down and looked at some different combinations.
But, yeah... These days, a win is a win.

Whiny bitch-fit much? Lamar's gone and some of you feel the need to fill the douche quota in his absence?
Re: Ghost's point about the bench, agreed. Just in general, I liked the energy I saw from the team tonight. Who knows whether that'll carry over into games against better teams, but it was still nice to see tonight.
And, Yi sighting!!! Almost makes me wish Cad were still around...almost.

Speak of the devil - Yi scored 8 points on 4-5 shooting and grabbed 2 boards in just 9 minutes. That's very encouraging, considering that most of it wasn't in garbage time...

yeah i noticed the amount of minutes some ppl got, was kinda surprised rc would do tht, im guessing we were in control of the game the majority of the 2nd half even with our starters out.
I'm looking forward to Thurs vs the Warriors. I'll probably only catch the 2nd half of that game, but its gonna be a nationally televised game so that's a plus. Hopefully we can make a statement that game and win big on the road.

Notebook: Mavericks 110, Kings 100
Posted Wednesday April 11, 2012 12:03AM
By Dave Ivey, for NBA.com
THE FACTS: A group effort by Shawn Marion and the Mavericks offset a great effort by DeMarcus Cousins and gave Dallas a desperately needed 110-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday.
Marion led six Mavericks in double figures with 10 points and 14 rebounds for his 10th double-double. Dirk Nowitzki added 15 points and eight boards and Delonte West had 13 points, while reserves Rodrigue Beaubois (15 points) and Jason Terry (13) fueled the Mavs' 54-23 advantage in bench points.
Cousins contributed game highs of 25 points and 18 rebounds to go with a career-high six steals, three assists and two blocked shots. Marcus Thornton, Tyreke Evans and Isaiah Thomas each scored 16 for the Kings, who dropped their fifth straight game.
QUOTABLE: "We just need to come prepared and ready for business the next [eight] games. Everybody needs to be focused so we can make a push for the playoffs."
-- Mavericks guard Vince Carter, who had seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
THE STAT: This was the Mavericks' 16th straight victory in the series at the AAC. The Kings have not won in Dallas since Feb. 27, 2003.
TURNING POINT: Both teams shot exactly 44.6 percent (41-for-92). The difference was that Dallas was more aggressive, attacking the glass and getting to the line. The Mavericks won the battle of the boards 56-40, including 17-8 on the offensive glass. They had a 20-10 advantage in second-chance points and made 12 more free throws than the Kings.
QUOTABLE II: "This is the first time we've had this complement of players healthy. It's a beginning. We don't have a lot of time to be experimenting and this and that. Every second counts from here on out, and we know that."
-- Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle
HOT: With the disgruntled and disinterested Lamar Odom out of the picture in Dallas, Yi Jianlian took advantage of his increased playing time. He swished all four of his field-goal attempts in the second quarter, draining jumpers from 17, 20, 20 and 22 feet to match his season high of eight points. He heard more cheers in about four minutes that quarter than Odom did in four months.
NOT: The Mavericks committed seven turnovers in the first quarter on their way to 17 miscues for the second straight game. The Kings were credited with 12 steals.
BAD MOVE: After the Kings cut the Mavericks' lead to 92-87 on back-to-back 3-pointers by Thornton and Jimmer Fredette, Cousins stalled the momentum with a silly foul. Prone on the floor under his own basket, he reached up and flattened West with an arm tackle. West made both free throws with 5:58 left, then canned a 3-pointer on Dallas' next possession to push the lead back to 10.
FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: After missing four games last week with a strained right groin, Dallas point guard Jason Kidd looked rested and re-energized. He finished with seven points, seven assists, six rebounds, two blocks and one steal.
NOTABLE: Dallas is 17-1 when scoring 100 or more points. ... Only two of the Mavericks' eight remaining regular-season games are at home. ... The Kings are just 5-24 on the road. ... Dallas (32-26) gained some ground in the Western Conference playoff race on idle Denver (31-26), Phoenix (30-27) and Utah (30-28).
UP NEXT: For the Mavericks, Thursday @ Golden State, Friday @ Portland, Sunday at L.A. Lakers. For the Kings, Wednesday @ New Orleans, Friday @ Oklahoma City, Sunday vs. Portland.

Because reading a gdt is like getting kicked in the crotch. You shouldn't have to go through it if you don't want to.

I think I saw a Mavs basketball sighting last night. Crisp ball movement leading to wide open shots. Also guys were having some fun again out there.
Why is it that a 4000 year old jason Kidd pushed the ball better and faster than either delonte/roddy?
Also noticed there was very little of the dirk/shawn/Vince getting the rebound and bringing it up. It was grab the rebound and "yes sir mr jkiddo".
, here is the ball let's rumble.
Roddy...dude man do something PLEASE, much quicker. I'm not sure who/how they will ever get into his head the need to do things quickly, if they ever do, he might be a pretty good player.

Because they run first and think then to where they could move or pass the ball. Kidd runs and knows immediatly to where he could deliver the ball in the next seconds.

I'll take zero turnovers over quick thinking any day of the week. Roddy often tries to see the floor before he makes a move. It is a sign of maturity as I see it. Sure, it takes a few seconds, but he'll improve upon the quickness of his decisions. All part of the process of becoming a better playmaker.

Bullets:
Game:- Mavs beat the Kings 106.91 to 97.19. Although SAC scores 100 Points, a high pace leads to a decent defensive performance
- Mavs attempted a season-low 13.61 3FGA P100, they took their average shot from only 9.55 feet, also a season-low
- Over the last four, Mavs rebound much better, set a new season-high in TRB% last night (58.33%)
- Dallas attempted 56 shots in the paint, converted only 26 (46.43%), Kings 27-48 (56.25%)
- Mavs continue to limit opps free throws at home, 8.75 makes P100 last night. In last 7: 9.30, season average at home is 16.80.
Lineups:- The starting lineup was outscored 20-30 on 163.42, they allowed a season-high 114.39 PP100 in the Paint and off FTs
- Bench units did much better, were a +9.04 PP100 on 90.38 Def
- Understandably Kidd/West backcourt only one that didn't work: -34.08 PP100, 136.33 Def.
- Jasons +65.12 on 123.72 Off, Kiddois +20.62 (92.78 Def), most-played Terrois +18.10 (90.53), West/Terry +10.32 (92.84)
- C-Watch: /w Wright, Mavs were +9.86 (94.61), allowed only 51.25 PP!00 in the Paint and rebounded 60.87% of the misses, 95.24% defensive boards
- Unadj. +/- to the JET (+66.51). Effs with him: 112.54 Off & 84.06 Def. Not loved: Yi & starters (except Dirk)
Players:- Yi leads PER (43.79), Wood WS48 (0.295) & WP48 (0.571) - Marion, Terry great as well.
- Also good PER production from the point: Roddy (25.4), West (22.8), Kidd (18.2) all at least solid. Kidd leads WS48/WP48
- Marion rebounded a massive 40.6% of the misses, the most for him this season.
- Everyone had trouble finishing at the rim: Roddy 5-9, Marion 3-7, Wright 3-6, West 3-5, Carter 2-4
- All of Yi's FGs came from outside 16 feet, only miss was attempt from three
Stuff:

Feels like last night was a big tryout. Yi, Wright got significant time at the 4, 3-guard lineups and stuff.
And as crappy as the starting unit was (Dirk in particular), this was the most energy from the bench players all year. Odom anyone?

Haha, I think I just threw up on myself.
Actually I'm in GSW territory and they were bantering around about getting Lamar. The expert explained the whole situation about his 2.4 buyout and 8.2 salary. He thought out loud that the Mavs may actually pick up the option and try to move him for a piece. Throwing up on myself twice in one day.

The Mavs cant pick up his entire salary (or the equivalent) and still offer Deron max.
They need to amnesty Haywood, erase Odom or buy him out for 2.4M and probably even dump Carter via stretch provision.
