Krugman on why the debates won't be a game changer for Romney
Quote:
Third — and this is prospective — people now invoking the 2004 debates as an example of game-changers (Kerry cut dramatically into a big Bush lead) are, I suspect, failing to remember what happened in that first debate, which was that Bush came across as a total idiot. I suppose this could happen to Obama, but it would certainly be out of character.

Why are you posting propaganda?

Well actually it is an opinion piece and it is presented as such. Propaganda would be presenting slanted or even false information as objective reporting.
It is up to you as to whether you agree with his analysis (though I suspect you won't).

If its krugman, it's propaganda.

Krugman regardless, the point remains that Romney probably needs Obama to back up to him. It will be awfully hard for Romney to move in the other direction. It would be hard for anyone, in these circumstances. Seems almost impossible for the cardboard cutout Romney.

Rasmussen has Romney up 2 over Bo, what's your point?

I didn't realize Ras was a serious pollster. Since 2004 they have been way off relative to other pollsters.

If you are taking krugman as a honest broker, I don't doubt it.
"According to Politico, "Rasmussen’s final poll of the 2008 general election — showing Obama defeating Arizona Sen. John McCain 52 percent to 46 percent — closely mirrored the election’s outcome."[40] In reference to the 2008 presidential election, a Talking Points Memo article said, "Rasmussen's final polls had Obama ahead 52%-46%, which was nearly identical to Obama's final margin of 53%-46%, and made him one of the most accurate pollsters out there."[41"

And again...what's your point?
"PPP's newest Wisconsin poll finds a big debate bump for Mitt Romney in the state. Two weeks ago he trailed Barack Obama by 7 points there, 52-45. Now he's pulled to within two points, with Obama's lead now just 49-47.
There's not much doubt it was Romney's strong debate performance on Wednesday night that's given him this boost. Voters think he won the debate by a 61/25 margin, including a 60/19 margin with independents. 95% of Republicans think Romney won the debate, while only 50% of Democrats claim to think Obama was the winner. Romney's image has seen significant improvement over the last couple weeks with 49% of voters now expressing a positive opinion of him to 48% with a negative one. That's up a net 8 points from a 44/51 spread on our last poll."

Every pollster had Obama beating McCain by a similar margin. And in the most recent election Ras was god awful:

While Obama's margin shrank. It did not shrink by a whole lot. According to real clear politics Obama's lead shrank by just 2%. And with the new job numbers Obama is likely to stay ahead.

Classic campaign strategy by Saint Romney. This pitbull just started fighting when Obama's already old and worn out. His only job is to turn on a little charm, destroy Obama in the debates (easy enough), and convince Ohio that he won't cut taxes on the rich while focusing on the middle (which is what he fully intends).
Let's hope he builds some traction and we have a leader back in the WH for the first time since Slick Willy. Be nice to have another moderate democrat at the reigns.

I thought Romney held his own although I would give the nod to Obama in that debate. It wasn't anywhere nearly as one sided as the first debate.

Yeah I think Romney had a couple of significant gaffes last night that might actually have a bigger impact than the first debate.

Can't recall one gaffe Obama made in the first debate, although I can recall several Romney made last night.

I think Obama would have been better off being aggressive and saying a couple of stupid things (ala Romney last night) than being a total wiener during the first debate.

Unfortunately being angry and stupid like Romney does get you more political support in this country.

Yup. I'm honestly still pretty baffled by how egregiously he mailed in that first debate. It's baffling.

The forums are a lot better place with Murphy on ignore. Then you get to see when people quote him and just laugh and laugh. Seriously though the guy is one of the best trolls i have ever come across.

So this thread has proven at least two things, but actually sorta the same,
Chum and krugman don't know what they are talking about. Chum just was mistaken, krugman is a democrat operative who is an idiot.

I was indeed mistaken. I had no idea Romney had that in him. I give him much credit for it, and if he does win the election, it gives me reason for optimism.

It is interesting to see this much movement from a debate, I've never seen it before. I suspect that Obamas plan to demonize mitt prior to the convention when he really couldn't defend himself has backfired badly.
Mitts life has been exemplary and seeing him on the debate stage made many folks go hmmm,,,,exactly what kind of cramp has Obama been peddling. Getting mitt outside the media made up gaffe of the day has been huge.
Obamas lack of seriousness, big bird, romnesia, binders is not helping him now when folks are paying attention. Romney was able to show seriousness and the response was big bird crap.

Debates also showed Romney for what he is: a liar. Crowley calling him out on his lie will go down in the annals of debate history.
And the swing state polling has shown a bit of tightening, but not a whole lot. Obama will still probably sweep the electoral map. However, the popular vote may be tight because Romney will run up the score in the South, but that is inconsequential because the popular vote doesn't matter in our system.

Blow it out your ear, the only thing Crowley did was show that she is in Obamas hip pocket. It's just like Clinton arguing the definition of is. Obama went on for weeks blaming the video..pathetic excuse for a president.
At least chum was honest enough to admit being incorrect but your Obama tingle is so strong that you won't even admit that Kaufman was wrong.
