The question I have is why Brandon wright and Troy Murphy both got 19 minutes. Wright is too damn good for Carlisle to hate this much and I don't understand it.

Ok, so Melo scored only 31 and not like 40....

No body respects murphys jumper right now. Also having him in there makes it easier for them to play Novak.

Don't forget that Murphy is a far superiour rebounder. He's pulling down 11,6 PER 36 so far. He's an elite rebounder for the PF position, also an excellent floor stretcher with numerous great 3 point shooting seasons. It's understandable why Rick want to see what he's got. So far it obviously isn't working, but the guy barely got here, give him some time.

I'm sure the B2B also has something to do with it - Wright will probably play ~25 minutes tonight.

The Knicks played without a PF all night long. If Dirk OR Marion had been there, the Mavs would have eaten that alive. The Mavs simply didn't have enough depth with Marion out to go small, either. Dahntay Jones nearly fouled out in limited minutes, Carter got hurt, and Crowder was already busy getting abused by Carmelo's travels/drives to the basket.

Well Murphy is definatly more useful than Eddy Curry. I hope his shot starts falling soon. Same goes with Brands jumper..

The person to be worried about most with their shot is Brand. It just hasn't been there. Maybe he's been distracted with the birth of his child coming up. With that behind him, maybe that'll clear his mind. Who knows.
Brand is still developing his jumper, so that's going to be touch and go.

brand was one of the best jump shooters in the league last year - he'll be fine. there are obviously going to be growing pains with 9 new players on the roster and currently not a single starter being the same as last season.
we did miss our best defensive and our best offensive player - i'd like to see new york play without anthony and chandler.... anywho... gt beat the weaker teams coming up now.

Developing? Brand was one of the best, and one of the most consistent mid range shooter big in the league in the last 10 year or so, including hist last couple of years. It's puzzling that he can't hit the target. His effective field goal percentage is up there with any bigs not named Dirk.
There shouldn't be any problem with it. I still prefer him to Wright and even Kaman at the 5 to be honest, because his defense is miles better, and he can actually defend 5's. I would much rather see him in the starting lineup once Dirk comes back, and i would unleash Kaman against second unit bigs.
He would score on them like there is no tomorrow. I just don't trust our defense, the offense will be awesome all year imo. So many options to go to, and they will have even more space once the Dirkster comes back. Any news on him btw? How is the rehab going? He should be back in what, 3 weeks?

Yeah Brand is usually very good with his midrange jumper. But the first games every single one was short. And yesterday he blew two layups and you can see his frustration.
I hope its just a matter of time. He need two-three good games and we are fine..

Thought you were losing your marbles.
Curious about Elton, though. Any idea how's his shooting looked in practice? History says he and Kaman should be comparably efficient on those midrangers.

For now, I'm just sticking with the numbers will even out. Everything looks a little short right now. He's just got to get rolling and things will round back into form.

The difference is Brandon wright is a quality 4. Honestly that guy is a starter quality 4. Itll be sad that he'll be relegated to the bench when dirk comes back.

I thought his form looked better tonight--more lift. He also helped himself out by going towards the basket.
