Oh, the madness!
Seriously guy, stop doing things. Is there any way you can just lay back a bit and put a little more into figuring out how things work around here instead of shitting all over the place?
Even in your own premature thread you post a game day info link that clearly says "FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2013".
This is the best reason I can think of to make users have a certain amount of posts before they can start threads.

How do you feel about douchebag trolls who make no attempt to contribute to the quality of the basketball discussions or to the celebrations of fandom on the board cluttering up everyone else's experience with their trash?

The mods are too busy tweeting than actually caring about the board. And of course the site administrator doesn't even POST on his own board......

This one's just for you Bayliss.
I may not post, but I'm still around, and I do still respond to every single pm and message that gets sent my way. I prefer to stay behind the scenes since training for competitions along with my responsibilities as ceo take up most of my time. The incessant whining about the site not being what it used to be is getting a bit annoying though. After all, D-M.com is just a sports forum, so it is what you all choose to make of it. In any case, I guess I'll consider revisiting some of the offers I've received over the years to buy the site outright. Maybe it's time to pass it along or just shut things down.

Even in your own premature thread you post a game day info link that clearly says "FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2013".
This is the best reason I can think of to make users have a certain amount of posts before they can start threads.

Seriously, stop running everyone off and destroying the forum. Maybe it would be more lively if your paranoia didn't urge you to constantly bash on every new poster you suspect is a Cadbane reincarnation.

Now that you're here. Who are all the mods? How many are there? Is there even term limits for the job? Shouldn't a mods job I don't know... post?
Can you just delete accounts that haven't been in use in a certain term limit? It says the board has 28k members yet only about 100 posters that actually post.

I'm sure there are people here that will lend a hand or go thru whatever process might be necessary to become an active mod. I get that there is definitely life outside this board.

The mods are u2, sike, jthig, mary, aexchange, etc. Their job is to moderate the forums when necessary and look into users/posts that are reported. We're all adults here (for the most part), and it's not their job to come down on every single member who utters a naughty word or makes a trollish remark. If you think an inappropriate post has been made, then report it and someone will look into it. There's also an IGNORE feature on this board. If you just can't stand reading someone's posts, then add them to your ignore list. It's really not that difficult. As for the member list, we have a ton of inactive members, but also just as many lurkers. There was also a massive spike in spambots for a period of time, but most of those accounts and ip ranges have since been blocked. Traffic to this site was at an all-time high during the championship season and subsquent offseason. The huge dropoff since then should be surprising to no one considering how frustrating the team has been as of late - both on the court and off - and how spoiled we have all become watching the team rise from the cellar, making significant strides each and every year. Activity on the boards lately has been rather low, so I really don't understand the incessant cries for new mods. What exactly would be the point in that? It's not their job to "liven up the place" with new posts and threads. This site is fully driven by those who choose to use it. If you think things are getting dull or boring, then feel free to post something new and encourage others to join in. Constantly complaining about the state of the board really serves no purpose whatsoever (and no this comment is not directed to Bayliss specifically). Or better yet, just sit back and take a break from the site. You'll probably miss this peace and quiet after the Mavs sign Howard this offseason and this place completely explodes.

Yes, this post exactly. Call out long time members of the board for ruining the board that you just joined. If anyone has suggested you are Cadbane it was probably for a good reason....and there was a reason that no one liked him.
Some people take a little pride in joining and trying to make a name for themselves immediately by going extremely against the grain. Bitching and whining about the team, the moves, were doomed etc. It annoys a lot of the members and no one even really cares if you have decent sports opinions after that point. Similar to a new kid at school walking in and just tipping peoples lunch trays over and kicking backpacks...who is gonna like that guy?
As far as the MavOutlaw posting new threads. I don't personally care about superstitions n such but regardless of that, it's customary that the GDT is started on game day, typically by the one who won the last game. Not too difficult to comprehend. I don't think it's being a follower or lacking individuality to adhere to that. Maybe not starting a new thread about something that happened 2 weeks ago as if it were happening tonight. It doesn't take much to see how things are going before you launch in and your first few posts ever make such a huge splash that no one takes you serious.
CAll it running people off if you will...but people coming here and getting ridiculous really early usually end up as a part of natural selection.

So it is basically sike and jthig... and even jthig rarely posts anymore....
And it goes beyond ignoring trolls.... but life goes on....
It is what it is... the board is on life support... but it is only one of three boards for mav discussion... and until the plug is pulled i will still post. But. Look at the gdts threads sometime.... and that is pretty much the only discussion nowadays
.... there are so many nights im just posting by myself....
Without dialogue there can be no discussion. And no members want to post anymore. Or cant... whatever.

Ahhh, the old forum death model. Tried and true, over and over and over.
A group of old timers who've let the world pass them by and can't handle it. They get so jealous when others are impeding on their territory by allegedly "trying to make a name for themselves". Can't have that better piss all over your territory like a dog.
Then the old timers complain when anyone "against the grain" or has an opinnion "about the team, the moves, were doomed etc.". Just shutup newb and quit taking the spotlight from Old Dawg. It's his territory and Dawg can't have you making his points or it'll cost him some precious reputation.
And don't forget about those Old Timers and their unwritten customs that must be met or the forum will fail. Instead of politely letting new posters know that something isn't welcomed, they shit their pants complaining about inactive capital M Moderators who don't ban someone for infringing on their E-Territory by sitting at their morning coffee table. Run 'em off!
Then the old timers get so bored after running off all the fresh meat that they start creating alt accounts to talk to. This of course becomes obvious after a while and the old timers become even more paranoid of every new poster. They must be "trying to make a name for themselves" and "no one even really cares if you have decent sports opinions after that point".
So yeah, tried and true. Maybe it's time you reevaluate your contributions to this dying forum.

Now that I've probably offended everyone, I'll help you understand the dynamics in play.
Forum members, especially on sports forums, have pushed and pulled ideas back and forth until they get boiled down and refined into two camps that understand minute differences in each other's posts. You've all been discussing it and have lifted yourselves up to a much higher level than the average fan, and probably a pretty damn cynical one at that if you know what I mean. So new poster so and so comes along without the Bull Shitternet Degree in Maverickology and posts something that classteach sees as ridiculously juvenile. Only teacher doesn't realize her status, and of course the student does not, so teach does what she do with her power and runs the kid off to the principal. Kid rebels and calls teach a "bunch of d bags on this boards.", and creates a ton of alts to get back at the man for putting him down.
Get it? Reevaluate.

Lol. Guy, If some jackass coming in starting a GDT on the wrong day and failing miserably at every step is "taking the spotlight" then so be it. His 1st post was re-issuing a GDT and his 2nd post was defending Oilfield trash who I'm pretty sure knows everyone here has gone over "the championship team" and losing players etc...crying endlessly over spilled milk. These are the things you want to raise the forum "out of the grave" with?
