Dude has hit his ceiling and it's pretty sad. Still not bad for the 25th pick back in the day.

No, it really is pretty bad. It means that each year the league can't supply one player to every team. It works out in the wash, since stars play for so long, but it's still pretty shocking on the supply side.

What made it bad was the Mavs keeping him for so long. They had a chance to trade him about 2-3 years ago and get some value for him.
Jared Cunningham got back more value than Roddy. And Cunningham played a handful of games.

They learned their lesson with Roddy.
Get rid of him and get something back in return while you can.

What they got back was cap space though, right? The trade w/ the Celtics netted 2 second round picks. Technically we had to give #44 and move down two spots in order for the hawks to take Cunningham. One of the 2nd rounders form Boston was already given up to acquire Ledo

They obviously thought he would continue to improve. It just wasn't meant to be. Regardless, in today's league, you need talent. Talent will not always pan out, in fact, most of the time it won't, but you still gonna take the players with the higher ceiling, potential. Roddy had great potential at a time, only his biggest haters will deny this. I don't blame the FO for keeping out on him. Heck, he's still only 25, i wouldn't blame them if they'd bring him back. I hope they won't though, Roddy needs a change of scenery.

There is no lesson here. Next time we trade away a young player, and he might become an all-star elsewhere. You never know. There is no lesson to learn, it's always a gamble.

As evidenced by the bidding war over Roddy's services this offseason, right?

Sad...they can't evaluate them IN the draft and can't evaluate them OUT of the draft..

The Heat wanted to bring point guard Rodrigue Beaubois in for an audition, but a wrist injury prevented that from happening, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. The 25-year-old averaged 7.1 PPG for the Mavericks over the past four seasons.

That's pretty funny actually.
However eventually you will realize that RC has serious issues when it comes to developing young talent which is why he weeds them out for veterans. It's his personality type. He should do much better with the present roster, but his lack of developmental skill will eventually bite the franchise in the rear.

I've heard of a doo rag before, but never a don't rag... Although it's a "Free Roddy B" shirt, so I guess the terminology makes perfect sense.

Well I just made it up, it seemed to fit with roddy's career and "free roddy t-shirts".
