Elton Brand to the Hawks
FYI.

Damn, I was hoping he'd stay on the market until we figured out what's up with Dalembert/Oden... Big men are drying up.

Sucks but we do need to get younger on the roster, hopefully the Mavs can bring in somebody.
Would be nice if Oden managed to come here and revitalized his career.

Yeah I'm disappointed by this as well. I doubt Oden chooses Dallas over SA or MIA (though it's possible if we throw all that remaining cap space at him), so it looks like the entire C rotation may be Dalembert (maybe) and Wright.
Yuck.

The gnomes have finally finished the three steps of Mavs Plan Z:
Step 1) Sign World Peace
Step 2)
Step 3) Profit/Center

You'd think we could get another 5/5-type center no problem but in today's market.
I'd sure like to know where the rebounds are coming from next season.

How I hated that problem last season.
I wanted EB back, this is so weak.

Not surprised but would've been nice to have him back.
Rebounds will be the death of this team.

Somewhat worrying because the center market definitely just got weaker and the Mavs still don't have any of them under contract other than Sarge. And if it's not for more than the vet min I'll be puzzled. At the same time, I was having a hard time seeing where the minutes were going to come from for Elton if the Mavs also signed Daly and Brandan, and I think it's still too early to say whether this is bad news or just news.
Edit to add: I don't really see rebounding as the loss here. Elton's rebounding is replaceable. It's his man defense in the post and his high team defensive IQ that are least likely to be replicated in his successor.

There's no way we could have matched the 1year/4million offer. Not really a choice honestly.

Good for him. He worked hard last season and deserved that contract.

Wut? Cuban promised other teams would be broke and be ready to amnesty their top players so we could pick them up for the veteran minimum.

Shame. Brand is one of those guys who is always an asset, especially on a playoff team.

Atlanta was probably trying to get us back since we took Ellis from under their noses while they decided on Teague.

Haven't been keeping close enough track to be sure, but they may also have just been looking at the need to get up to the league-mandated minimum payroll.

Well I was just joking, but it seemed like they were the only other serious suitor for Ellis.

Yes! I am glad he is gone. He is a decent PF, but Carlisle needs him at center and he was just too undersized. Also he was fighting for least athletic player in the NBA with those mad hops of his.

Center's his best position.

I always like Brand, glad he was here last year, he give you an effort and was quite effective in the backup C-PF spot.
It must be a trade coming or are they throwing the arsenal at Oden or Dally?
