Jason Kidd clears debt to the mob by giving away his gold medal

Jason Kidd Gives His Gold Medal To The Wynns

Most people, when they get an Olympic gold medal hang onto it for dear life. Jason Kidd, who played on the Olympic basketball team however is giving his away. And to whom? No other than Elaine Wynn, wife of casino mogul Steve Wynn. It turns out that Kidd met Mrs. Wynn last year while he and the rest of the U.S. team were staying at the Wynn while training in Las Vegas. They got to talking over a banquet and Kidd promised that if the team won the gold he would give her his medal. No, he's not in debt to the house, Kidd says it's just a thank you because "the way they treated us at the Wynn, it was the least I could do." I'm hoping the Wynns display the medal at one of their hotels.

knowing Kidd's past he probably grabbed her va-jay-jay in the Casino and he's giving this up so she doesn't press charges.

I believe Michael Wilbon suggested that this was both a good-natured move and a smart way to ingratiate himself with a powerful casino/club mogul--i.e., he's getting comped for life at expensive places across the country.

So you're kinda like the J-Kidd of this board?

The sweet thing about that is that he didnt have to. You see him being out there (his presence) was huge. That helped the team a lot more then people realize

Personally I think Kidd banged this woman and he thought it was so good that he would give her his gold medal...

The guy warmed up the engine. He got in opponents face, reached for everything, understood his role and was happy about it. I'd get out of the way, if I had King, Howard, Kobe and 'Melo starting enxt to me too, if he started jacking up shots or pounding the rock for 20 seconds, then everyone from here to China would be crying WTH is he doing? USA won and he had a huge hand in it, again, stats don't do this guy justice.

....me too, no matter how hard I try to understand why, it still doesn't really make much sense. I mean her husband has already said once Kidd retires he'd love to have Kidd on his payroll as a consultant, citing his vision as something he'd love to have in seeking future business endeavors. How that basketball vision translates beats me.

He's not afraid to take risks, he sees an opportunity that can produce a good result but he is different from the rest because he'll actually take the risk. Maybe he didn't feel like he should just be given the job, do something of very good faith to help earn his job or something. I don't really know, I'm just thinking up ideas.
For someone who already has a medal, it might not mean as much to him. The experience of it definitely means a lot but the medal might not. Now for the guys like Lebron, Wade, Melo...the medal MEANS a lot because they've put year after year into it and really do believe in USA basketball.

Sounds ridiculous. He probably was in debt and thought that this cover story would at least save his image. And whats with people giving away these Olympic medals? One of these days i'm going to see some spoiled 16 year old punk showing off his 2008 Olympic bling he got on ebay. You know, because he earned it and all.
