That's a man-sized win: losing Jet, having Josh sit out during his peak time, Dirk struggling early.
Very good win.

really really sucks. barea stepped up, but how long can we be without him?? and i was JUST JUST sayin that we have had no real major injuries other than j-ho at the start of the season.

Will Dirk find his shot? He's been in a pretty bad rut these last couple of games, and even though we managed to beat Portland despite of it, he was a no-show in Utah the other night.
We are on the cusp of really making a move up the standings in the West, it's on us to take it.
I'm 3-0 on GDT's so far this season, let's keep the undefeated streak rolling. If we win this game, I'll take the Boston game as well. Bring it!

Does JET end up getting traded due to this injury? Sounds crazy but that's more or less what happened to Devin last year.

Again, that one with Tyrus was a flukey one, he bailed them out b/c of time. If he makes his 4th 3 pointer in the 3 years he's been in the league...you give him his "lucky ass shot" props.

Very reminiscent of last year. Harris went out with the injury and Avery forced Dirk to shoot 30+ times against Phx and another team... can't remember who.
The bad thing about it though is teams will be doubling Dirk HARD for awhile forcing it out of his hand. Kidd, Howard better be ready to step up.

Mavs win!!!! Definitely hard fought. Considering JET was out and Josh was in foul trouble, what a nice win. Dirk was struggling at the start, but he really stepped up big time. Kidd was also amazing in this game. His defense in the 4th quarter was phenomenal. That clutch 3 was great. JJB was good for the most part. I just didn't like his decisions at the end of the 4th.
Go Mavs!
alby for the win! You should start every game thread

This is why I ultimately say "Lay off Dirk's jock."
He doesn't deserve an all-time pass but he deserves a major one more often than not.
I'm going to compare him to Kobe and LeBron b/c I think he makes as big of a difference as those two guys do. Last I checked, their s*$@ can stink too...
They'll have nasty stretches, 2 of 4 or 3 of 5 games where their shooting is ugly. The differences are they are swing players and they're going to attack a bit more. On top of that, they have much better weapons than Dirk does. There are a lot of times where he'll shoot in the 30% range, and result will likely lead to a loss. If Kobe or LeBron do that, they still get wins.
Dirk has to carry the load more often than not and when he struggles his supporting cast can't pick up the slack at times. He will carry this team over and over. Eventually, because he is human, he will have stretches where he shoots poorly. The thing about it is that he will always find a way to get out of it...always. Simple example with tonight. He started 1-9 tonight and look at where he finished up.
You gotta take the sometimes nasty bad with the epic and incredible good. Dirk is Dirk, live with it or get outta the way!

I agree BG about "laying off Dirk." But Dirk has also not be a b*tch. Against Utah he was a b*tch. He laid down. Utah wasn't doubling. He let them take him out of his game.
It isn't always how well you play per se, but he has to show the fire and hustle. He had fire tonight. I realize making shots helps with thaat fire.. but use the booing from Utah as your "fire" and motivation. Think you are going to beat them like the red headed child they are....
