Sixers are an interesting team.
They beat the Cavs tonight so probably gonna be the 3rd seed in the playoffs. Sure it was a back to back for the Cavs and they blew a big lead....but that's 13 wins in a row. They get the Mavs next so they'd better not blow that one.

There was a rumor LeBron was looking at schools in Philly for his kids a few weeks ago. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up on that squad.

That man right there makes Sam Hinkie's plan worthwhile. Funny that he got canned a month before that pick.

If Simmons ever develops a shot, it'll be game over. Until then it's interesting what he can do in the playoffs without one.

First time since 1976 that a Los Angeles or New York team has failed to make the playoffs.

Good for him, wish we could have figured out a way to make him stick... Just way too many guards on this roster.

Worst we can finish is 5th now, right? Currently a coin flip between us and Hawks/Magic? Really need to drop the game against the Suns.

Worst finish recordwise #5, with bad luck in the lottery draft #6, #7 or#8

I was curious about exact ruling on ties. It goes like this:
Each tied team gets the average number of lottery combinations. For arguments sake, lets assume Dallas, Atlanta, and Orlando all lose the remaining games and are tied for 3, 4 and 5 picks. 13.8+13.7+8.8=36.3 / 3 = 12.1. For the lottery, each team gets 12.1% chance of getting the #1 pick. Likewise, they each have 38% of being in the top 3. Note that if the division isn't even, a coin flip determines who gets the extra lottery ball combination in order to make it even.
If a team does not get a top three pick, a coin flip is then done to determine the draft order.
So worst case scenario for us still in effect is we win against Phx tomorrow night, Atlanta and Orlando lose out which gives us 5th place. Then none of the top three draft positions hold and we end up with 8th pick. It's still possible for Lady Luck to leave a pile of dog crap on our front porch.

Well you can't go 0-82 in a season, and the Mavs were awful this year. IF we somehow get the 8th pick, then that's the crap lottery's fault.

But just to be clear, if we finish #5 we only have a 0.4% chance of falling to #8... So that's a 99.6% chance of getting a top-7 pick. Just to be clear.

There's at least a 10% chance of our 0.4% chance happening.

I thought a lot about this tanking and super team craziness that's going on in recent years and really would like the league to aggressively adjust asap.
Imho what you would need to do is allow teams to sign one players to an unlimited contract. Meaning that he can earn whatever. In exchange, the new max deals are getting significantly lowered, let's say by 50%. I would also increase minimum contracts by 100%. This not only strengthens the middle class of players, but also let's superstars think twice whether they'd like to get 10M per year while the "unlimited" player on a team earns 45M.
You could even say that only players that played at least for X years for a team are eligible to receive an unlimited contract.
As for the draft, I personally like that the worst teams get the best odds. It's not a bad system in terms of competitive balance, but obviously no team should feel forced to lose games. I would keep the lottery system intact, but give the bottom 14 teams the same chance. The worst teams however could get some valuable exceptions or benefits to use in free agency. Let's say the worst team in the league earns an exception to boost any non-unlimited contract by 50% of it's max, or add another year? Suddenly you can offers key free agents 15M per over five years while other teams can only go as high as 10M over four.
Again: I think not being able to attract free agents and super teams is as much of an issue as tanking and both should be addressed.

I've also wondered about different player salary options as well. What about pre-set salary amounts for players? Although I do like your one player exception. I also like the way the soccer league has it's major and minor league where the top 3 of the minor and bottom 3 of the major swap. The teams in the major get a much higher amount of revenue sharing.
I agree that there needs to be some serious changes. I've almost lost any interest in actually watching other games because it's a given that the Warriors were going to win and Lebron was going to the finals ... barring injuries and trade demands of course.

Thoughts about the Process and Boston:
Without the injury Embiid goes without any discussions at #1 and the Sixer dont get at #3. They just get him because of his injury. And then he gets injuried again and without this injury the Sixers wont have such a bad record to get the #1 in the Simmons draft. Absolut luck that the Sixers ended up with Embiid/Simmons (and pissing away high picks with Okafor/Noel).
And the Celtics lucked out and robbed a retarded russian guy with no knowledge and no patience. Such a trade will never ever happen again. It was not just the trade , it was also that the other team started to suck ass
there are no blueprints for rebuild via tanking. And the Sixers/Celtics for sure arent blueprints.

Magic forums are all up in a fit about us "blatantly tanking" and how we are "disgusting" and how we should be penalized. Right... like the other teams haven't done worse? Up until recently we were still letting JJ barea win games for us. It wasn't until Wes went down and then Dirk's ankle started really bothering him that we officially mailed it in.

Only god knows why fans would point at other teams rather than the league. It's so obvious that it's a system issue. Of course, only the Mavs got fined this year because Cuban wanted to sell some season tickets for next year.
The only thing that's disgusting is how the league tries to sweep it under the rug.

Tanking is an issue and it should be addressed but at least any team can do it. Worse issues are super teams and flopping.

I like how the Warriors are struggling without Curry. Not that it needed further proof, but Durant is the original Nazgul. Only issue with not rooting for GSW is that seeing Houston in the Finals would suck even more. I hope OKC somehow pulls it off. That would be fun.

I really wish ESPN would turn off the Philly/Milwaukee game considering it's a 38 point game in the second. Would love to watch one of these close games. Even the hockey game is a blowout.

Well they're up 20 at the half, so one would think he would play less, but he already has 11 boards so I imagine he gets to 16. I'm sure his teammates are letting him grab them (as they have the last few years) to avoid getting scolded.

Watching the end of the Denver/Minnesota game really makes you appreciate Carlisle's ability to draw up out of bounds plays.
