Youth worth developing/building around
What youth is worth developing. You can vote for multiple people, so vote for everyone you think we should keep, develop, and/or build around. Players over 30 are not included.

Keep:
Barnes
DFS
Curry
Brussino
Possible Trade Bait:
Anderson
Powell
Hammons
Matthews
I'd like to see us keep all players age 27 and under through the year though but play them and move all of the old vets (excluding Dirk) before the TDL.
If DWill doesn't want to be traded let him know he'll be a towel waver the rest of the season.

The big question is where do we go from here after this season? We need to seriously fix the PG/C position (like always).
With Barnes solidifying the PF position, I find it really hard to imagine Dirk being back next season.

Not Powell. He just looks bad because he doesn't have a good center next to him. And Anderson is just on his second year to find himself in the franchise.

I like your list, but I think we should keep Wes. His focus and way he approaches the game could be valuable to whoever we end up drafting. Have a young guy come in and watching Dirk, HB, and Wes approach practice and games is important to their development.

If the right offer came for Wes I'd do it. I love the guy but his attitude and approach isn't enough to warrant 17-18m and 2 more years after this. I wouldn't dump him somewhere just to lose him but if the right deal came I'd do it. I'm not even sure what the right deal would be but I know it would have to include a 1st this year or a low protection future 1. Which is the main reason I don't see him being moved.

I'm fine keeping Dirk, Wes and JJ for reasons you mention but the rest have to go . I love Devin Harris but having too many 30+ guys on the team will keep Rick from ever letting younger ones develop. Once JJ's back we'll barely see the young guys play if we are completely healthy and no trades have been made.

Not sure if that would have anything to do with why they waived him?

Barnes, Finney-Smith, Curry could all be rotational players on a championship team down the road. Barnes could possibly be as high as a second option next to a superstar, Finney-Smith could probably be your 5th-6th most important player, and Curry is your 7th-8th most important, and possibly the last piece of a playoff rotation. That is how I see it at the moment, and I think neither are that close to that right now, especially Finney-Smith to possibly being the 5th most important player on a contender. But he could maybe get there. I saw glimpses of a potentially great role player.
Obviously, we have more players who could have a rotational role on a championship team, but they are all old and/or will not be here next year. I counted Wes as old, but he could be the 4th-5th most important player on a championship team right now. Let's say he is on the Cavs instead of JR, he could be - and probably would be - the 5th most important piece after Lebron, Irving, Love and Thomas.

It's almost at the end. After Ramona leaves(Which I basically skipped anytime she talked so no clue what she brings to the table). It's a quick mention but Kevin drops a "I'm told they are listening to talks with Wes, but I don't think that's news" Zac- "Uh I think it is, well it's out now".

I may be the only one, but I hope we keep Matthews. He's not the first guy you get when building the roster, but he's a darn nice 4th piece for a champ.
Then again, DFS has shown that we can find a 3+D guy and develop him. I still like Matthews, but if we're looking at a first rounder or a promising younger guy then maybe.

Barnes because he's not only still youth, but he's been to the finals twice already. That'll help for developing the franchise into the future.

Someone tweeted that Mavs are listening to offers for Wes. From Allthingsmavs account...not buying it though

Bogut and Wes in a package trade somewhere. Nice way for Donnie to talk to Boston. I'd give them Bogut and Wes for Crowder and their first round draft pick. Or even just their first round pick for this year.

Just give me a first for this years draft. Boston has a top 5 pick either way the records end up I think.

Game plan with :Pierre Jackson is that he plays with Legends for next three games, then signs 10-day with Mavericks on 1-14.

Something like that. But with the Hawks dumping Ryan Kelly. Why not try to add Kelly instead to try and develop another big who can score.

Not only Bogut and Wes but we can add a 3rd team into this. It makes sense for Donnie to talk to Boston until trade deadline.

If Mavs can somehow get 2 first round picks. Then that's where I hope Grayson Allen enters the draft because he could be first round talent at scoring.

It's just a thought. Who knows if he even enters the draft this year. Not to mention we don't know the Mavs spot in the first round yet...

I'd hate to draft that POS. No way Boston parts with their pick owed from NJ (I assume that's the one we are talking about?)

Indeed I am. Well if Danny Ainge really wants to try and compete against cle. He could just give the Mavs his first round pick for Bogut with adding some other vets perhaps? Devin, Deron, or Wes? I'm saying this if Cuban is on the same page to rebuild in certain spots.

We're not going to get a first rounder for an expiring contract who can walk back to GSW after this season. He's a UFA once the season ends.
Also Grayson Allen is utter trash. Trash person. Trash player.

Hope Grayson Allen somehow ends up in Sacramento. Or wherever Boogie gets traded to. I'd love to watch those two idiots and their impulse control melt down on the court together.
And no Boogie isn't coming here, just to be clear about "wherever Boogie gets traded to". *door shut*

Nah.. Bogut looks done after this season. He wants a good set up to try and get to the playoffs. That's why the Celtics are interested. I'd even consider Kelly Olynyk. Mavs have some play into this possibly.

The Celtics probably wouldn't even give up their Brooklyn pick for Barnes and our 2017 first round pick, and you want it for Bogut and Matthews, an old, injury prone, expiring player, and an arguably horrific contract, are you guys crazy? There is no chance they part ways with that pick, we can - maybe - get their own 2017 pick,, if they have that one and it's not a swap. Trading away Bogut and Matthews for future assets would be amazing at this point.

We'd be doing good to get Boston's top 2nd round pick for Bogut.

I dont think you can put Wes into a youth wort developing thread. He as reached or past his prime already me thinks. I dont think he will get better at this Point of his career.
DFS, Curry, Brussino and Barnes are the ones with upside. Powell seems to have reached his ceiling pretty much. Would have expected some Kind of breakout season by now.
