HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets placed troubled forward Eddie Griffin on the team's suspended list Monday as they set their opening night roster.
Griffin was suspended indefinitely nearly two weeks ago by coach Jeff Van Gundy for missing a practice, one day after he was hit with a two-game suspension for skipping a team flight to Sacramento.
Griffin faces more trouble as the NBA regular season is set to begin. He reportedly is being accused of punching a woman in the face at his home this past weekend, although he has not been charged.
Last season, Griffin missed a game for personal reasons but did inform the team and was not suspended. In April, he was charged with marijuana possession and is facing a hearing later this month.
The 21-year-old Griffin, a former Seton Hall star, averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds last season.
The Rockets also placed forward Ben Davis (knee surgery) and guards Adrian Griffin (knee surgery) and Eric Piatkowski (left ankle sprain) on the injured list as they prepare for their season opener Thursday at home against Denver.
