Bill Ingram is a fool who throws random crap out in his columns hoping that something sticks.
Bill Ingram had the Mavs interested in Beno Udrih last offseason. If you believe he has real, plugged in sources inside the Mavs then I have some beach front land and a bridge to sell you.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand there goes that theory.
I mean seriously, the Mavs still have the MLE, BAE, and when they traded two benched players and one rotation player for Marion they also got another extremely valuable trade chip out of it that allows them to further better the team. In the midst of all of that they've successfully improved their defense quite a lot.
Recap:
Significantly improved defense
Traded a $7m chip for a $5m chip and a starter
Held on to pieces that allow them to acquire more offensive firepower and/or defensive stoppers.
Mavs don't make good moves? hmmmmm.

no i dont believe theyd give him the mle. but last year id believe they would trade for him.
ill agree the marion move was great. he may be getting a little more than he should, he is 31. but its still worth it
bringin back kidd was nice too, but if thats it and they play with a 1 year window to win a title every year..its not enough obviously

Hakim Warrick!!!!!
I think we need to pick up Hakim Warrick. Yea orlando took Bass and stole gortat. I think Warrick would be a good back up for Dirk,to take bass spot. I mean he did average 11pts in 24 mins last year. And hes somewhat an fierce player. He kinda has that go up and dunk on your mentality as Bass. We could use the MLE. Or somewhat close to it. Cause everyother free agent dont look good on us getting.

Warrick did participate in slam dunk contest a few seasons back, should excel with Kidd lobbying alley oops together with Marion.

completely agree. hes up there with the best back up PF's in the nba. i dont think dallas is using their MLE on anyone, though.
the mle can sometimes be combined with other sources of money, im not sure how off hand, but i think they are trying to add it to something..i know i cant make sense out of this!

i dont suppose you guys read the latest article on db.com about Dan Fegan..
hes the agent for many of dallas' players, nearly half the roster actually
hes also J rich's agent..who would be an amazing fit at SG for the mavs..
IMO hes the ideal fit at what we need in an SG..he makes a boatload of cash the next few years but hes a damn good player.
i know the mavs and suns are highly unlikely to deal, but you never know what the suns are doin anymore..
kelenna azubuike is another ideal fit i think, at a cheaper price..he reminds me alot of j rich..
id prefer these type of players over rip hamilton..
this all doesnt exactly apply to the buckshot, just some thoughts!

The winning entry on how to use the Buckshot comes (and why is this no surprise?) from D. Lord:
http://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=1894
If only he would turn his creativity to reforming health care or eliminating the national debt, we could all be more secure.

seriously? from above link
"For Milwaukee, the "do-it-now" variation would have them taking a bit more salary, somewhere in the range between about $200,000 and $1,000,000 more. But as the Bucks try to keep interest in the franchise stirring, it also might be a minor plus to have the fans drool over the idea of adding former Slam-Dunk champ Green."

I like how you didn't cite that quote - looks like you came up with it yourself (which was the tip-off that you didn't...)

After Sept. 9, you could do Buckner/Williams/Humphreys/Carroll for Kirilenko. Utah may be wanting to dump his salary.
That doesn't directly help the center situation, but a line up of Kidd/Howard/Marion/Kirilenko/Dirk (with Terry, Gooden, Thomas, Barrea & Dampier also available) might be stout enough on defense to play without a real center.
Compete with that team for three years, then all the contracts are gone (basically) and its time to start over.

I'd be all in on this one........that would be fun to watch. Kidd would have a hey day with that length available.
Edit: Think of the help side shot blocking on all pick n rolls. You either have AK47 or Marion coming with a 7' in your way, and that is if you can get by Kidd or JHo who play pretty good D themselves.
If they have a problem with a guard, in comes Ross. Problems inside, you get Damp or Gooden. Need more outside shooting but still need to guard the bigs, TThomas in the game. Need some energy, Singleton to crash. Dirk at the high elbow on O, AK on the blocks, Marion cutting backside, Kidd left alone for the three, or Jet/JHo --- pick your poison and a nasty bench as well.
Kidd, JJB, Booby
JHo, Jet, Ross,
Marion, Singleton
AK47, TThomas
Dirk, Gooden, Damp
That would be a nasty group to try and get through. Very Very versatile.

That team is a nightmare for the opponents offense and I'm huge on AK depsite the bad contract. I don't know if we do it though, if I'm the FO I'm concerned with giving our starters, in particular Kidd, as much rest as possible. Getting a backup point should be the focus (and a starting center).
For example, landing Sessions here would be unbeliveable but would he embrace a backup role? He's starting caliber. Giving Kidd as much of a break as possible is going to bode well for us come the postseason. I was worried about him holding up when we acquired him, now that we have a legit shot at competing it's time to invest in as much insurance as possible. Giving Sessions the starting gig some nights doesn't seem like a bad idea either, provided Kidd doesn't have a problem with that...

Rudy Fernandez anyone?
I hear he's unhappy with portland's front office and we need a young, talented, athletic 2 guard. He'll get out on the break with kidd and (as we saw in the olympics) he'll throw it down and hit the 3! Much cheaper than jason richardson and michael redd too. If I'm the Mavs I'm throwing the buchshot portland's direction!

Portland's below the salary cap, and not in danger of the luxury tax. Portland doesn't need the Buck Shot.
But I would like Rudy Fernandez in a Mav's uniform.

Okay, then the question is would you consider this trade?
Josh Howard to Portland
Travis Outlaw and Rudy Fernandez to Dallas.
I would strongly consider it based on their fit and Josh's lack there of.........

We are deep enough Ross is more of a fit than Outlaw imo because he can defend, so I would say no. Fernadnez is nice but Terry will get the majority of the minutes at the 2.

Yes, Cuban and Donnie need to jump if that opportunity presents itself to get Andrei Kirilenko without giving up Howard, Dirk, Jet,or Beaubois; AK47 is capable of slowing down a lot of good scorers in the league in the paint or in the perimeter, something that was lacking last season. Someone needs to post this also in the Dallas Mavericks Offseason Thread or DallasBasketball.com Dallas Mavericks Offseason thread so that maybe Donnie or Cuban can see it. Plus, AK47 can help us win now and AK47 is not in the same boat as Cuban thinks Ramon Sessions is in which Cuban thinks Ramon Sessions is an up and coming player who did a great job coming out of the D-League with the pedigree of a second round selection who does not help the Mavs now. The roster will then be a championship caliber roster vs what we have now.
Roster in terms of who can play where:
Kidd/Barea/Beaubois
Howard/Jet/Ross/Marion
Marion/Howard/AK47/Ross/
Dirk/Marion/AK47/TThomas
Damp/Gooden/Dirk/TThomas

I think the Jazz prefer to pay a year more LT than to give the WC rival Mavs AK for "nothing" and having beside the Lakers a 2nd team that they probably wont beat in the PO.

Yes, please - I absolutely LOVE Raja Bell... He's a 41% career 3-point shooter and one of the best defenders in the league - a prototypical shooting guard, in my opinion...
That would allow us to trade Josh for a starting center (maybe Kaman?) without using the DUST chip...
Kidd/JJB
Bell/Terry
Marion/Ross
Dirk/Gooden
Kaman/Damp
(I only sell the wettest dreams around here!)

Also, you didn't replace Josh Howard's production with Raja Bell (better defender, better 3-point shooter, better fit at the 2...)

Interesting. Cuban doesn't want to trade scrubs for someone you would give our starting 2/3 swingman for.

So the report is we're waiting until September 9th or whatever to ship out Buckner and pieces for a big piece possibly....but i have a question:
Walter Sharpe and Aaron Afflalo were shipped to Denver for a 2nd round pick 7/13/09
Walter Sharpe and Sonny Weems were shipped to Milwaukee Malik Allen 7/21/09
Sonny Weems and Amir Johnson were shipped to Toronto for Delfino and Ukic 8/17/09
How can Sharpe and Weems be packaged in other deals less than 30 days after being traded?
