3-1: Nowitzki's unforgettable quarter propels Mavs over Jazz
WOW.
A team record 29 points for Dirk in the 4th quarter, and a defensive lockdown for the last 8 minutes, helps the Mavs overcome a more-than-lackluster first 3 quarters. Unbelievable.
54 points thru 3 quarters. Kidd was awful at everything except shooting, Terry was throwing the ball to no one on repeated plays, Humphreys couldn't play P&R defense to save his life, Ross got injured, and we were down 16 three minutes into the 4th quarter and the Jazz were going for the jugular. Suddenly, we get them over the limit, clamp down defensively, put the ball in Dirk's hands, and we get a magical 44 points quarter.

Wow indeed
Was it just me or did Dirk actually looked like a power forward in that final run and played like a leader? Wow have we not seen that in so long, looked so awesome.
Now my only question, will we be tired tomorrow or this win will help for a good night sleep?

I have never seen a man carry and will his team the way he did tonight. I am so stunned by Dirk's heart. He was flat out amazing. I can't put into words my admiration for his performance tonight. That was spectacular.

It sure will be funny reading all the posts tomorrow from the people who left the GDT after the 3rd quarter to go to bed early.

Dirk has put on some amazing performances in his hall of fame career, you'd be hard pressed to find a more dominating one than that one. Good god he was unstoppable.
I sometimes question if he's human. The guy is absolutely amazing.
Also, Dirk is currently playing the best defense in his career. He's every where on the defensive end.

46% of our points were scored in the fourth and Dirk had 42% of our overall points and all but 15 points in the fourth.

Doing the research, it appears that Aguirre had 24 against Denver in the first quarter of a February regular-season game and 27 against Houston in the third quarter of a playoff game against Houston in 1998 (a closeout game that we won).
Both records fall tonight. You have to give props to Aguirre on the playoff game for the context, though.

I keep trying to express this in words, but there really nothing to say except that Dirk...well, he's awesome. One of the greatest...no, the greatest performance I've ever seen from a NBA player. That was crazy. Everyone knows he's a superstar, but that performance was legendary. Dirk decided that he was going to take it to the basket, and no matter many falls to the floor it took, he was going to win this game. And that's something truly amazing to watch...

Hey folks, haven't seen ya'll in a while.
Something told me even at the end of the 3rd quarter that Dallas would at least make a game out of it, but i wasn't expecting Utah to stick their heads between their legs and smell their own farts.
After watching this game and the Lakers game, i'm feeling really good about Marion on this team. For years i've been saying Howard>Marion, but i'll eat the crow for now.

I have only one wish: Just to have a sit with my "friends" Charles Barkley and Chris Webber, watching together the 4th quarter and simply to ask both of them: "29 points in 9 minutes of the final quarter, is that what you call soft?"

44 points in the 4th quarter...I can't even imagine the venom that would be spewing around here if the Mavs allowed 44 in a quarter like that.
And they can't even lean on officiating, not even in the slightest. They just got tea-bagged by the Big German.

If Dirk drives to the basket all the time, he could be pretty damn scoring machine..

I was going to go to bed early so I can stay out tomorrow for Yankees/Phillies....and then I got out of the shower and saw Dirk have his GODLY 4th quarter. UN.REAL. Just for that 4th quarter, Cuban should put a statue of Dirk out in front of the AAC.

This game will remain in my PVR for a very very loooooooong time. I might watch the 4th quarter several times tonight. Til the early hours of the morning.
Screw work.

Unfortunately, the Mavericks still have some serious problems. I mean, that was the epitome of awesome tonight, but what about the rest of it?

There's a few other bright spots in this game. Kidd probably played the least intelligent game of basketball I've ever seen him play, but at least he finally found his shot. Damp with 12 boards and 6 blocks? Yeah, not bad.
Aaaaand that's about it. Dirk's the man.
