8-3: Mavs buck Milwaukee in OT
2nd night of back-to-backs, no Marion, no Howard, no Damp - no problem!

agreed... btw Brent Barry is a much better analyst than his brother Jon... though he was better at everything than Jon so it's not surprising

Deciding to play Roddy in OT really changed the game. The block at the end of the game was huge, but he played great defense the entire quarter. Jennings only scored 2 in the OT period, both on free throws.

Also, I love how the ESPN front page tells how "Jennings played his first game after dropping 55, netting 25", not even mentioning that, you now, Dirk won it on a game winner...

Great game by Dirk and Kidd but I am very pleased about Gooden and Roddy!
I defended R.C. on the S.A. game ONLY because the team didn't give this effort that night. He ran with JJB too long again. It really needs to be adjusted like the way he had it in O.T. Roddy should be in the game until proven otherwise. His defense was great, at least compared to JJ's, he had Jennings number.

Yeah, those two really made up for the absence of Damp, Josh and Marion - great effort from both of them...

Yup, I saw that. Although I had to wait about 20 minutes until they actually talked about the game...despite the dramatics and the fact that, you know, they were following that game.

Man. Driving when Dirk hits a game-winner like that is kinda dangerous... would have been an awesome last moment of my life though!

JJ does as man bad things as he does good things. He seems to be a good shooter and have a nice stroke BUT he takes bad shots quite a bit and tries to do too much. To compound that he is being outplayed on defense by a rookie. He isn't gonna be able to keep all those minutes, Roddy looks like he is going to demand them. That is probably the ideal way for this (integration) to pan out too. All the talk about R.C. force feeding him minutes or baby him along stuff just may not ever come into play. So far he is making it a no brainer!

I hate the Kidd/Barea/JET lineup (mainly because we're too easily exploited on defense), but fault shouldn't rest solely on JJB's shoulders - he works just fine in a Kidd/Barea/Marion (or Josh) lineup... Just like Dirk, he's not good enough on D to be effective next to another weak defender (JJB/JET = Dirk/Bass, kinda...)
We need Marion back ASAP!

Roddy needs minutes. When they say he is Rondo with a jumpshot, I believe them. The dude has Inspector Gadget like arms! And with those arms he can be a beast defensively. And offensively he can catch alley oops, as well as shoot 3s, and get to the rim.....
Give the kid minutes at the expense of Barea.

I know everyone is going to be sucking on Dirk and that is fine because his shot was big and Dirklike...he is the man. BUT Goodens tip in was just as big, without that we don't go to O.T. That was flat out smarts meeting hustle. He was refreshing, thats what I saw in the preseason.

His length is very very nice. Reminds me of Barbosa in that aspect. His length certainly bothered Jennings in SL and tonight. He still seems lost on team defense at times, but that will get better with minutes. His man defense looks good. His jumpshot seems very fluid and he's definitely quick to the cup. He has had some nice drives to the hoop, dishing to the cutter. Haven't seen much on the drive and kick out front, but the drive and dish to the cutter he definitely has down. I cannot fathomably see any justification for RC not to cut into JJB's minutes with Roddy. Hopefully OT was a start for RC.

If Marion is healthy and ready to go for Wednesday, I will sh*t myself with glee. I just don't see it happening.

Hah, really? Dang, I missed it. I pointed this out right away to my dad who was watching it with me. JJB was like "yeah, great game winner, but I'm not about to get bumped into the first row for it."

F ESPN, we're not talking about them, we're talking about Dirk and his sexyness.
Who cares what ESPN puts on their webpage anyway.

I know people are mad at Rick Carlisle for playing JJ to much but you have to give Rick some credit for his gameplan tonight....Jennings only had 25 point's and most people thought Jennings was gonna go off on Dallas, I'm not suprised by the job Roddy did on Jennings because Roddy did the same thing to him in summer leauge, the Mavs where coming off a back to back and missing 3 starters and still won so I give the game ball to the entire team for not giving up.

I know one shouldn't be a downer with a win but can the Mavs just waive Singleton already? He is nearly as ineffective as Matt Carroll these days without the horrid contract.

Did anyone see Jet on NBA TV after the game. I didnt but someone on DB.com posted this that I thought was interesting.
"JET was talking about Roddy and how the sky is the limit for him and how playing with Kidd on the floor makes the game easier and stuff... but the thing I found most interesting was this: "The main thing for him to improve hsi game and get better is GAME EXPERIENCE (he emphasized that part), he needs GAME EXPERIENCE"
So it looks like atleast one of the players are lobbying for Roddy to get more minutes... Hopefully Rick responds."
