Well we are pretty dang short in the shooting guard department right now. It's Caron (who is a sf) or Jet (who should be a point guard) or ........... someone else.
It would be nice to have someone else be 6'0 or more.
EDIT: I guess we do have stevenson and then someone named carroll something?? can't recall..

If TT comes back and gets comffy with the team. I can see him being huge in the playoffs.
Kidd
Butler
TT
Dirk
Haywood ............would be great in spurts

Way too snarky.....jk
True with our roster at 13 now. Jet, Dampier, Najera, Stevenson, Roddy, JJ, Carroll and Thomas are our options.

Supposed to be signed on Wednesday to a 10 day contract. I'm not sure whether he'll be available for the game, though.

Just saw this: http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/maver...ut-wafer-again

Mavs will work out Wafer again
February, 22, 2010 Feb 2211:51PM CTEmail Print Share By Tim MacMahonDALLAS --
The Dallas Mavericks will put swingman Von Wafer through one more workout before deciding whether to give the swingman a 10-day contract.
The skills of Wafer, who averaged 9.7 points off the bench for the Houston Rockets last season, aren't the Mavs' concern. They want to evaluate his sore back again.
Wafer left Greece to re-sign with the Rockets earlier this season but he failed a physical because of a bulging disk.
"He can shoot it. We know that, and he’s athletic," president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "When he’s healthy, he can defend. His athleticism is the thing that kind of separates him, but we want to see where he’s at physically and have a chance to work him out one more time."

Mavs getting their ducks in a row for that playoff push.
Things in the mirror are closer than they appear.

Dampier will be huge for us, and Wafer will just keep a spot warm until we see who gets bought out in time to qualify for playoff rosters. Stevenson is playing with a renewed passion.

That was only one game from Stevenson. If Wafer is healthy, I think he'd be pushing Matt Carroll off the team if we saw any FAs become available.

I have more faith in Wafer playing meaningful minutes for this team than Stevenson. Though if Stevenson played like he did a few seasons ago (11 points, 2 threes a game on 38% shooting, 3 assists per game, and tough D) I'd much rather see him getting the minutes.

One Rocket's trash is another Maverick's treasure?

Not sure he would have been "trash" if not for the back issue.

Aint happenin'.
Anyway, Hughes anyone? The guy has sure fallen from his status as a semi-star. He was just waived so he's available. He's having a terrible year shooting (and he loves to jack up shots) but he's a solid 6'5" and despite his barely on-par defense, he can play passing lanes well to pick up steals.

I would jump on this. He is cheap now and I think if he can accept a role on the team he can be great, I think he could be motivated on both end of the floor...the guy used to be a decent defender and finds ways to score.
at least look at him

Larry Hughes is absolutely terrible. I don't want him anywhere near this team.

The Mavericks were expected to work out forward Dwayne Jones on Tuesday and they are planning to sign him to a 10-day contract, a source has told ESPN.com.
Jones is a top rebounder for the Austin Toros of the NBDL.
A source added that Jones could even be eligible to play on Wednesday night against the Lakers.
The Mavericks are already believed to be to close to signing free-agent guard Von Wafer to a 10-day deal.

Maybe a few here and there, which would be appropriate.
