what are your favorite iphone applications?
I am looking for fun iphone apps, and I was just curious to see what apps others are enjoying. So far, my favorite time-wasting apps are Wheel of Fortune and blackjack. What are yours?

Freecell is a very handy companion while dropping a deuce, not that you really asked for that much information.
I use a freebie starbucks locator with great regularity.
I sprung for the AT&T navigator. It's a bit pricey but I do a lot of traveling and it's nice to have an all-in-one phone and navigator.
and last but not least....I can tell you that my desk tilts approximately 3.5 degrees to the left because I have the indispensable iHandy Level.

It tilts six days a week. On one special day a week I'm able to support the low end.

I waste a lot of time playing "Flood it", Sudoku, and "Words with Friends" which is a scrabble kind of game you can play with other people.
Speaking of blackjack...I found a blackjack teacher app (21 Teacher) that helps you to learn perfect "basic strategy". I use it to practice before going to Vegas. It helps if you can make the right decisions automatically when you're drunk.

Good Reader (the only app I'ver ever paid for ($.99)) is great if you have a lot of books in PDF format. You can take half your library in the stall with you.
Boxed is a good free brain teaser/strategy game.
Trace is a really neat game until you complete all the boards.
If you like tower strategy games Tower Madness is one that's making me crazy right now.

Apps i'm liking:
- MobileRss (RSS reader, links to Google Reader account)
- i.TV (TV schedules. Can be linked to your TiVo account for scheduling recordings)
- Facebook
- Mint (Financial app, shows consolidated view of your accounts - you need to have an account at Mint.com, which is free)
- ESPN ScoreCenter
- BandMate (only app i have paid for. It shows you concerts in your area, based on your music library)
- Pandora (awesome. 'nuff said)
- Shazam (equally awesome and i still have no idea how it works. )
- Amazon
- Skype
- UrbanSpoon (may help to solve those "where should we go to eat" arguments every couple has)
- Bing or Where (good apps for showing local businesses and mapping to them)
- Classics (looks like what the new iBook software will be, with some classic novels to read)
- Intuition (Planning app. I haven't messed with this one much, but looks to be pretty good)
Games:
- Solitaire Free
- World Series of Poker Free (actually a full poker game. Very good for a free version)
- Tap Tap Revenge
- Jungle Crash
- BackBreaker (pretty cool football game (running back moves only))
- Labyrinth

ESPN Scorecenter? BOOOOO
Sportacular, FTW.
And yes, everyone should have Shazam. It's some kind of voodoo magic.

My issue with ESPN is that I downloaded that app, scrolled through the scoreboards...and couldn't find the NHL page. And that was that.
Oh I see....if I add a hockey team to "my team" THEN I get the NHL page.
Still quite the snub that it wasn't on there as a default. I don't like ESPN. Sportacular seems a little less clunky and bare bones. I guess it just depends on what you like.

Oh yea, Dragon Diction is a good voice recognition app. It's not perfect since it's not integrated with SMS but it's better than driving and typing.

really? NHL was there by default for me and i removed it!
you don't even have to add a team. You just add NHL under "My sports" on the settings page.

I live in the ESPN app. The recent addtion of the My Teams and Top Events pages made it even sweater. It's also cool that the app is integrated with the website so that when I add a team on the app it shows up first when I go to .com.

ESPN Scorecenter is awesome.
I play Zombies Live.
Zombie USA is a cool shooter game.
BBC News, NY Times, Urban Spoon
I'm into Astronomy, so I like the "Astronomy Picture of the Day App"
Twitter, to check up on the illiterate ramblings of NBA stars
Cube Runner is pretty cool
Black Jack is nice too. I'm learning to count cards.

Right now the practical apps I'm using are:
Facebook
MindNode (kind of a thought-map.. got it because my days were getting too crazy and I was forgetting to do 2-3 little things each day for work or school)
Soundhound (It's like shazam but you can also hum a song and it will pick it up.. not sure if the newest version of shazam has that)
WunderRadio
Slacker (like Pandora)
Chase Mobile
iReconcile
ProChords (song writing tool)
Games:
Tetris
Fieldrunner (best tower defense game IMO)
Trenches
Zombieville

Logitech has an app called touchmouse that allows you to use your iPhone or touch as a mouse. Have to install some software on the pc though and requires that the machines be on the same network as the iPhone. Haven't tried it out yet but sounds interesting especially for those with netbook that may not want to carry around an extra mouse.

Damn. I didn't know there was a free one. I have a paid app called Air Mouse that does the same thing.
It's ok for controlling my PC when I'm watching movies from my couch on my projector, but the screen real estate is too small to use it as a spare mouse for your laptop IMO.

shotgun app. if you cock your phone back and extend forward, it's like you're loading and shooting a gun. if you have nerdy friends, it's very entertaining.

I would use that just so I could accurately quote "Monster Squad".

The underscore is necessary. Also, I read at a 4th grade level and have never won a game of Words With Friends.

$60,000 a month to host the servers that house those virtual scrabble boards. That's freaking unreal.
Thanks for posting that, that was a great read.

Yes, very cool read. I had wondered about possible legal action from Hasbro. But I guess the format is *just* different enough.

Words with Friends, MLB.com At Bat 2010 and USAA are the only applications I use. Anything else that ever makes it onto my iPhone is from my girlfriend.
