Yeah that's why I said unless Butler is really that much better, but I'm a little skeptical. He can still be the #2 scorer coming off the bench like Ginobili and Terry were last year. He could also be the guy to finish the games, but I would rather use Marion against the other team's stud to begin the game, and let Caron benefit against the weaker 2nd quarter defenders.

As much I would like to see Butler on starting lineup, I would also like to see him more finish games. I think we should use more ISO's with Dirk and feed him more from 1 minut to ~15. Then take him out and bring in Butler and Terry. Let them destroy other team second units and then at end of first half bring Dirk back for few minutes to finish first half. Then he would have plenty of rest to play almost hole second half with Butler/Terry/Roddy (whith one who is feeling it the most that gamenight). I think thats the best way to have 2 strong scoring options on the court all time.

Did we win 01-02 anything? Did the Suns won anything?
Did we win almost in 2006 with a slow defensive team?
Do we have two good center?

If we win anything from 2005-2006 season?
This is time for changes.

The run and gun days are over. Also, that style of basketball has yet to win anything. Ask Nellie and Mike Dan Tony.

I'll have my recap of the day up later tonight hopefully (having some computer issues).
Get ready to read a LOT of stuff about depth, that was the major word of the day.

Seems RC asked Caron to lose some weight, is there the chance he's trying to gauge if Caron can be a starting 2 guard? It would give us a big lineup to start, but then when the inevitable bench time kicks in, JJ, Jet, Roddy all together in the backcourt?

And the Mavericks, this very summer, opted to get a defensive center rather than one without any defense. Hmm. Makes you wonder if they're catching onto that theory too?

It really seems like it's going to be very "on the fly" right now. They're really going to be getting a feel for different lineups and see what works and what doesn't. It really is a matter of who you ask on how things might finish up. Kidd suggested Roddy will be a bench guy, people talk about players who are accustomed to starting having to come off the bench (Marion or Butler, likely to be Marion).
It's going to be very competitive though, the thing is that most everyone is buying in to the idea and will use it to push themselves, which will ultimately make the team better as long as it doesn't implode.

^ Jets on the runway trying to back it up on Marion while wearing cleats.
Caron doesn't look like he lost that much weight, maybe he's ripped up.

I think since most of the squad has tasted success, it's getting to the finish line that will drive them most. Kidd and Dirk will be the chemistry police, they see someone stepping out of line, they'll get in their face, albeit behind closed doors. Man to man. DoJo and Boobs are the young kids, they're workers, they earn their keep, so I don't see those guys stepping out of line in comparison to highly touted prospects who've been given passes. Winning will ultimately help that chemistry.

Aside from calling people out to settle it on the court, this is the best post you have contributed.

Mavericks' Jason Terry unhappy with Las Vegas encounter with Gregg Popovic
Posted at 11:57 AM on Tue., Sep. 28, 2010
During the Las Vegas summer league, Jason Terry said he bumped into Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich.
It was not a happy reunion.
"It was the Spurs, our rival,'' Terry said of the playoff loss. "And then I see Pop in Vegas. We talked a little and that was definitely part of the conversation, them beating us after we got them (the previous year).''
Terry didn't go into details, but it was clear that Popovich took great delight in the payback. And Terry didn't like having to hear it, even though it was the truth.
Terry added that the way last season ended left a lasting burn.
"It's eating at me now,'' he said. "And until we get to the playoffs next spring and win a series and get to the conference finals and Finals, it's still going to eat at me.''
--Eddie Sefko
