Memphis are better team than Charlotte. We have better players. We have two amazing players Kidd and Dirk.If they will play well we will win.
Defence:
Gay
Mayo
Conly
We must stop these players.Conly is very quick ,so I don't know if Jason will guarding him.
GO MAVS!!!(win or die)

Maybe we can get a lead again and RC can log some minutes in Dojo and Mahinmi, granted he has them in the game with some other starters to keep some sort of flow. Otherwise this will be a long frustrating season again as far as the end of the bench and young player development is concerned.

I'd like to see Rick try Dojo guarding Mayo. Seems like a good match-up to me and a good game/time to give the rook some minutes.

I can't wait to see Chandler guard Mayo...or Kidd get Thabeet.

It is too early to say that Dojo isn't good defensively if that is indeed what you are trying to say.

Maybe, but I'm fine if his scoring is countered by Carons! Which def won't be the case with Mariown.

If we can get Caron to just score at least 18 tonite that we will be good...since JET scored 22 last game, look for an off nitght tonite...and if his shot is not falling then look for Conley to come up big in the 4th Q
As I said in the other thread Dirk is like kryptonite to Darrell Arthur...for some odd reason he just does not play well against Dallas, maybe too much pressure playing at home....this is the same reason funny lookin a$$ Chris Bosh didn't wanna play here

I would like to see Carlisle keep Kidd and Dirk's minutes low in this game.

Conley can give Terry fits. Especially when they are giving help to Kidd against Mayo. I'm hoping Chandler is up to the task tonight, because he may be busy with those two. Dirk is going to need to have another good rebounding night if our centers are pulled away from the glass due to dribble penetration (that's what she said).

We need to start a little series, just to set a " ! ". A 6-0 start into the season would be appropriate

And preseason games show what? And as much as I was able to see, he wasn't that that bad on defense. Have you ever seen some of his college games or summe league?
Let me give you some quotes from Carlisle:
"...established himself as a rugged, tough, physical defender at the guard position. He’s got a chance to get minutes because of his defense.” Carlisle said Jones has shown an understanding of defensive positioning and that he “fights over screens” and is “a guy that finishes off defensive plays with rebounds and tough, loose-ball plays. “Coaches take note of that kind of stuff -- in a big way.”
You really think that only some average games on defense from preseason should allow you to call him bad defender already? Give him a chance and playing time and let's see what's this kid is made of. O.J. Mayo is good match up for him. Mayo don't like to play against physical defense. It forces him to shot more from outside. With Randolph and Gasol out, thats what we need.

Without Gasol and Zach there is just no excuse not to win this game. Hell, there isnt an excuse for Kidd to play over 30-32min...
I want an easy victory and Dojo with at least 20min....

Mostly, but not entirely (even though I get your point that Dirk and Kidd are by far our most reliable players). Last season, we had an awful lot of games against mediocre teams where our veteran starters as a whole just tried to cruise through the games (Celtics regular season syndrome?) and dug themselves a hole due to a lack of effort. As a result, Kidd even had to play 40+ minutes against opponents that could have been beaten by the third quarter with the right mindset.
The way our starters played against Charlotte was really encouraging in that respect. There was no doubt that they wanted to dominate and take advantage of their superiority. When Kidd is on the court, the Mavs need to be as focussed as possible in order to take the lead and provide Carlisle with opportunities to rest him. We as fans can then do the praying and hope that JJB doesn't screw things up...

Hm, it is the 2nd game of the season. They need to go full speed ahead, no matter what Jkiddo wants. He is being paid 18 mn. Dollars.

Cuban said there is, "no rush" on bringing Roddy into the mix. He said, "life is easier" with performances like what Jet had opening night.
Butler could fill a role ala Josh, where he ignites the offense early in games.
He called opening night, "perfect" in regards to Kidds minutes.

Right, but is Roddy on schedule? Behind schedule? Ahead of schedule? There has to be at least some general timetable to get him back into action.
