Hornets still have no real depth on the bench, specially the FC.
Borderline playoff team in the west.

Dwyane Wade and company are only up 2 against the Nets in the third quarter.
That could be a fun ending.

Was it Kobe or Artest on him for the bulk of that?

For sure...but no one is gonna always get it over Artest, eventually your shot is off and he is still very big and very quick.

Bahaha....
"Less than two weeks after agreeing to terms on a contract, the Rockets and free-agent center Erick Dampier decided not to sign the deal.
Houston's slow start makes the short-term move no longer appealing to either the team or the veteran.
The Rockets had reached an agreement with Dampier on a one-year deal Oct. 29."

Have I mentioned how much I love Steph Curry? He threw up 34 points tonight on a bum ankle. Now that Nellie's gone, I don't have to feel guilty rooting for him. Fun player to watch and probably my favorite non-Mav.

Those fans drove me nuts with their cheesy Believe signs.
And that stupid troll Warriors fan who came over here and started a thread before Game 1 where he said he didn't know how it was possible for the Mavs to win the series.
The worst part was he was right. (*Insert swear word here*)

It looks like G.S. is seeing a defensive improvement like the one we saw when Nellie left. They've gone from being awful defensively to about average. The win over the Jazz when they shot 39% was impressive.
Of course the easy schedule hasn’t hurt either.

Personally, I think I'd have to go 4 1 3 2. Math confuses me too, so I can understand Kidd's comment, and while its pretty retarded to not know there was ties, it is kind of obscure. The other two? Oh boy.

His reasoning:

Speaking of which, let's look at the rest of the top teams. After Miami and L.A., we have a predictable list of teams that have started the season strong: Orlando at No. 3, the still-unbeaten Hornets at No. 4, Denver at No. 5, Boston at No. 6, Atlanta at No. 7, Phoenix at No. 8 and Houston at No. 9.
(Wait ā¦ did he just say Houston?)
The Rockets are 1-5, which seemingly makes them an odd choice to rank ninth in a 30-team league. But if we look at their schedule and scoring margins, the ranking is completely justified.
Houston's losses were to No. 2-ranked L.A. (by two points on the road), No. 3 New Orleans, No. 4 Denver and No. 13 San Antonio (in double overtime on the road after losing both starting guards in the first half). The only loss to a team outside the top 10 was a four-point defeat in Golden State -- no slouch itself at No. 17 -- on the second night of a back-to-back. Meanwhile, the Rockets' lone win was by 26 points.
Even if you eliminate that game, given that it came against a glorified D-League franchise, and just focus on the 0-5 start, Houston rates well. The Rockets lost all five games by a combined 30 points to teams with a record of 22-6 when they weren't playing the Timberwolves. Basically, every shred of evidence supports the notion that they're a quality team despite their 0-5 start, and as the schedule turns friendlier later this month, their record should even out accordingly.
|
And I agree. The Rockets still have 76 games left. The Rockets, as it stands currently, are only two games out of the playoffs....with 76 games left. Other teams will catch cold spells, and injuries will come up for all teams. Hollinger's rankings are based on future successes of the team. With an easier schedule coming up, the Rockets should start improving record wise.
Look at this example:
Team A plays the Lakers, Celtics, Heat, and Nets. Team A loses to the first three teams by 3 points each, but blows out the Nets by 40. Then, you have Team B, who plays the Nets, Wizards, Clippers, and Lakers. Team B beats the first three teams by 10 points each, but gets blown out by the Lakers by 40. Who is the better team?

The Pacers just were 20/20 before missing the last shot of the third quarter, which they won 54-27. Dunleavy went nuts from three and pretty much everything else was clicking as well. Denver down 37 to start the final quarter.

To some extent, I agree with the ranking for Houston as #9 based on the formula. It was just a comical thing to see them ranked higher than the spurs who had their record reversed.

What an INSANE game.
Millsap with 46/9. He hit 3 threes in the fourth quarter (he had only hit one in his career) and the game tying J to send it to OT. Wade hits a three in OT to tie it up...but then fouls Elson with .04 seconds left (karma).
Paul Jordan putting up 20/11/3 on 61% before tonight. Boozer was holding him back.

I had Utah written off after Miami pulled away late in the fourth, so I missed the fun comeback part and only checked in midway through overtime, but yeah, always fun to watch the Heat go down.

How do you let Paul Millsap drop 46 on you? He's good, but not that good. And this just after Bosh made Emeka Okafur look like Hakeem Olajuwon.

He might not be THAT good, but he is undoubtedly a beast. Before tonight he was putting up 20 on 60% shooting. I can easily see him averaging 20 PPG this year. He has really added to his game. His extended his range to the three point line, knocking down jumpers off the dribble and going one on one on guys in addition to what we knew he could already do.

Wade made a great equalizer from the baseline. I couldnĀ“t hear the ball touching the net.
