Tyson was supposed to be that chip we parlay at the deadline along with Butler, but he's been huge on and off the court for us. With that, I can't see a major trade this season. Maybe adding a backup 4 at the very least, but nothing major. Boobs will be our spark plug this season.

I wrote about Butler, read once again my posts and once again...
Defense is important, that's why Chandler will play more minutes in PO, but making FTS is important too. Tyson playing more minutes can be fouled out, and Haywood will play in the end of 4th, but remember that in PO you have only close games and making FTs in 4th is important as playing good in defense.

looking less and less likely we make any deal. unless it's using one of our TE's to lure a spot up shooter or back-up 4. chemistry is great right now.

I don't know if this was directed at me, and although I'm certainly not "intent" on player movement, I do still feel we're a move away from me feeling really good about our postseason chances.
I'm quite fine with the roster as it is, though.

I'm intent. We've had the best of times for a lot of regular seasons now, but the worst of times too often too early in the post season. We need to be prepared this year and fix those issues that keep biting us.

Chemistry is great right now but i still dont like the idea to give Butler next summer his last bigger contract with 31...
And there are probably some really interesting guys available (Iggy, Crash, Jax)...

chemistry is always great when you're winning in the regular season
then you get into the playoffs in a 7gm series and realize you don't have the horses and chemistry goes right out the window

Mavs-Melo rumors headline the top of hoopshype.com right now, today.
Saying Cuban is trying to play the fact that melo is just a rental. NJ would not move without a long term agreement. Mavs would be willing and is dropping that into Nuggets ears.
Cowherd had Cuban this morning. Cowherd commented on the lack of pub despite the early season success. Said the defense has improved a little, Cuban jumped in and said a lot. Best team since the Finals, because of the luxury at center with Tyson and Haywood. Damp was good, but....Diop was great that one year. Got into some off the court stuff, like personal fortune and extorionists...basically everyone suing him.

Although Cowherd is such a douchebag! I hate his voice, his delivery and what he says most times.

This is sort of passing the torch from Dirk to Melo. Cuban's continuing the line of 10 x 50s.
Butler's probably the start of the package. Unfortunately Boobs and Jones must be part of the package and then toss in Ajinca to make the salaries work. I'm sure Cuban would be more than happy to send a check for 3 million as well as a couple of first rounders. Melo can essentially keep this string going another 5 years after Dirk's done. Plus who knows how many others he can attract here. Melo-Dirk-Tyson....

At this rate, I doubt there'll be a trade. Caron Butler has stepped up lately, and he was my prime candidate to be shipped off. I cannot say enough good things about him driving to the basket. Furthermore, his jumper has been money lately. I'd say we go to war with these guys 'til however far they can take us.

That's part of the game, the risk factor.
Rangers fans know that the game can totally change after acquiring a big star with the thought he's just a rental. As time wears on and friendships can be cultivated, things can change. The result didn't work out for the Rangers but they probably got closer than most people imagined.
It goes back to risks, the haves will take the risk and the have-nots will just stand idly by and wonder why they stink.

Why this topic is still rollin' after post #60 is funny..
I like the part where Cuban says "'No Truth' To Carmelo To Mavericks Rumors", "If [Berger] is going to make things up, the reporter should at least be honest enough to say he is making things up," Cuban said. "Not one grain of truth to anything he said.".< that part.

Always a possibility as we saw with Lebron, Cube's a gambler.
Shaq redux, Howard to LA if Orlando doesn't win the ship....per Bucher.

Kind of like "he's smoking something" when asked about the Kidd rumors a few years ago?
Look I think the trade is such a long shot that it's almost not worth talking about, but there is absolutely no reason to believe anything Cuban says publicly about their involvement in trade rumors.

Well I love old cubes but I wouldn't touch or trust his negotiating talk with a ten foot pole. He'd say..no official talks or "I haven't had any"...whatever.
Or he could be telling the truth...I know I wouldn't make a bet on his statements.

The jump shooters are making their shots right now. Therefore, we won't need a legitimate scorer who penetrates the lane in the playoffs. So no trade.

What sucks is, while we're sitting here debating whether or not we should rent Carmelo, Iggy's probably gonna end up in New York.

Haha, didn't know we could pull the trigger on any deals from here. yea, but that Iggy thing is just hanging there, but my problem is dealing with Thorn again, I guess last time the George part put us behind the 8 ball. Somehow Thorn is going to leak something to drive the price up....

i'm starting to come around to the idea of this being our team the rest of the way. Melo would no doubt help this team with more free throws and rebounding. he also isn't afraid to take shots in the clutch and, as a legit superstar, will get calls others won't. this last part can be a HUGE benefit as we've all seen firsthand.
but Melo does duplicate alot of what Dirk brings offensively. lots of Iso'd 15-18 ft. out.
Melo also seems like a guy who's preoccupied with what's next and not this current season. would he bring the requisite focus and passion every night as a rental? how does this change team chemistry?
personally, i'll hope for healthy Roddy to provide penetration, 3 pt. shooting and waterbug defense. and try to use whatever assets remain to snag another athletic, active rebounder. Varejao would be perfect (although highly unlikely). maybe involve a 3rd team?

If I remember Stein's comments on B&S, Iggy is going farther and farther down the list because the feeling is he wouldn't dramatically improve the team, add the contract and it doesn't feel like a match anymore.

It still does for me. A lot more than Butler, anyway (and a lot more than Carmelo for that matter.)

I don't know, I like that Butler's producing, but when the jumpshots stop falling does he revert to a 4-13 night? I think by swapping Butler for Iggy we're thinning the bench, unless we see Iggy as a 3, which he really isn't. Marion starting again thins the bench, I can't see how RC will work Deshawn into the rotation without starting him. We get smaller too, I like our size right now, with Butler and Marion backing up both F spots. Deshawn isn't perfect, but he's doing great in the limited minutes, warming up the spot for Jet. Now if we can get Iggy without moving a rotation player that would be huge...but what's left? Haywood? Cardinal, Boobs, Jones?

This is just me, but I've always thought Iggy looked much more like a 3 than a 2.

I do not want Iguodala. I'm not sure I'd trade for him even if the Sixers were dumping him for nothing. I don't see a real spot for him on this team. Perhaps he can get some backup 4 minutes, but he doesn't play better defense than Marion or score as good as Butler at the 3, and isn't the spread the floor shooter than Stevenson is providing. He's a talented player, but adding him won't help.
The only trade I could see right now that's not Carmelo or something huge is a cheap back up point guard, maybe someone like Luke Ridnour, who is a very high percentage shooter. JJ just can't break out of his funk, and though Roddy is coming back, perhaps a veteran option wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm not saying Ridnour's available, but a player like him I think would be a good fit.

Ridnour would indeed be a nice pick up. or Boobie Gibson. both can hit the 3. Telfair is more likely than Ridnour to be dealt. since Flynn came back his minutes are really down. Telfair's actually shooting pretty well this year too but he turns the ball over alot.
