GDT: Dallas at Detroit, January 17 2:30 p.m. central
Well, even if Dirk plays this is going to be an extremely tough game. Hopefully the Mavs will settle down and actually score the ball.

Let's hope. A win would do wonders for their confidence.

this is a group of individuals that depends on other individuals. mavs need to quit waiting around and do the work themselves.

I wonder how many of the (German, and of course Polish, I better just leave it at) European board members looked at tonight's nba-schedule, wtf'd and googled American holidays. I know I did.
Anyway, "this ball club" badly needs a win. And this GDT badly needs a sticky to its name! Like now!
Go Mavs!

Power of the Elias Sports Bureau
The Mavericks starters combined for just 34 points in the 101-89 loss to the Spurs on 11/14. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the fewest points recorded by the Mavericks starting five since 11/26/03, when the Dallas starters scored just 30 in a 121-90 loss to Phoenix. The Mavericks starters recorded even less points in the very next game at Memphis (1/15), combining for just 26 in the 89-70 loss to the Grizzlies.

I guess he's dumb, Haywood is starting. Carlisle did say that Ian and Lex will be ready to go if necessary.

What I like about Mahinmi is that he is always cutting to the rim. It's hard to get the ball inside to Haywood because he is slow and not moving without the ball well enough.

Haywood's a vet who developed his game playing with the isolation games of Michael Jordan, and Gilbert Arenas early in his career. More of a finisher off someone else's drive and kick.

Who knew Novakane meant that much, I’m pretty sure the team hasn’t won since he got cut.

You might be able to get the same impact with Ian getting more minutes when the game is over. At points during the season, a starting spot wasn't necessarily correlating to starting-like minutes - Stevenson.

And, coming off the bench, he was the Mavs leading scorer in the preseason W @Detroit with 22pts, and even espn couldn't believe it (DoJo 5/9 for 15pts, 7ast). Maybe he could have seen the floor tonight. Probably not.
Anyway, now the Mavs have to stand strong together to overcome the absence of his towel waving magic!

This will be like the 4th game I'll be able to watch in full this season.

Well, Novak could have supplied the Mavs with shooting/scoring. He is a much better shooter than Sasha. But the would the contract be worth it? Probably not.
Sasha's 10 day should be up here in a couple of day... BG, have you heard if they are going to give him another 10 day contract?

And is it better to give him another 10 day contract (since he has practiced/plays/etc) than to give someone else a shot?
That is the hard thing about 10 day contracts. They should extend it to 15 day. That extra 5 days let's you get a better handle if a guy will fit in.... or they need to go another route.

There are definite pros and cons. If they do decide to give him another one then at the end of the second contract, they will be forced to decided to pay him the rest of the way or let him go for the rest of the year.
